I have a brand new Edge Products Power Edge EZ Module for 2004. 5 600 HO. I bought it from RPM Outlet about 2 weeks ago. It has never been hooked up. I decided not to install due to not having my gauges installed yet, and I really dont need any more power than what I currently have. That and the wife says I keep spending to much money on the truck.

It sells for 539. 95 on RPM Outlet. I will sell it for 450. 00, and I will pay for the shipping. PM me if you are interested please.

Need

I know you dont NEED gauges. But I know that when you install a unit like this it increases the ammount of fuel pumped into the engine. That extra fuel generates extra heat which is transfered thru to the exhaust. High EGT temps are BAD!!!

I am what you call a better safe than sorry kind of guy.

I will not install any modifications to my vehicle that might void the warranty, or cause engine damage/failure because I do not have the correct equipment to monitor the vehicle.

BRuppel -

This is the information I pulled diredtly from the RPM Outlet site. I have not hooked it up to the truck or even taken it out of the box. I have to go by what they are telling me. The box also shows 4 power levels not including stock. They have 2 Dyno charts on the back.

It can also be found at this link.

You don't need gauges to run the EZ.

There must be something wrong with my setup as the EGT will climb past 1300 + within a few seconds and keeps going up fast on uphill pulls towing my RV with the EZ on Level 4. Have to watch the Pyro gauge close when towing and would not consider installing any power upgrade before gauges.

Just this old phart's opinion. :D

Thanks for the info.

It even has a discalimer on the back of the box.

It states

Edge strongly recommends the use of gauges when using this product.

Keep it and install it. You don't have use it on the higher settings. You'll love it if only for the increase in responsiveness. ;)

Mr Nelson - What ever yo do dont buy anything else from RPM outlet - I only paid $469. 00 for my Edge EZ from a local dealer.

You would have a better chance with the Edge EZ not leaving codes for the dealer rather than putting something in the in the computer brain.

If you unplug the Edge before you go in for service - it is ubdetectable!! Been to the dealer several times and nothing ever found.

But hey - its your truck.

BTW - there are only 3 setting for the 600 Edge and 4 settings for the 555 EZ

Edge EZ

The price through RPM Outlet includes the air intake system as well. I picked up my brand new edge on ebay for $400. 00

Walt

p. s. I just installed my gauges today so I can do the Edge tomorrow.

I dont think it includes the air intake system. I just looked on the RPM website again and it said nothing about an intake system being included in the price.

I will sell it for 50 dollars less than the cheapest advertized price from a dealer on the internet. I might have paid too much but oh well. You have to be able to prove the price on the site.

Downloader vs. EZ

I,m not an expert in these matters so, I got in touch with a number of Dodge/Cummins diesel techs. that have a lot more expertise than I do.

Everyone of them said that the downloader is very easily traced and leaves a big footprint in the computer.

The EZ was a different story. Some said that it was not traceable and some said that it was.

The one guy, who's opinion I respect the most, said that if your warranty is important to you, stop "Bombing" at an air intake system and an exhaust system. Guages are OK, also.

The guys that said the EZ was OK said that you should "Be Sure That You Remove It Before Bringing It In For Service".

There is a good article in the latest issue of the TDR by Joseph Donnelly and Dave Leno pertaining to the "boxes". It might be a good idea to read that article, thoroughly. Lots of information, there.

Hope this helps. Joe F. (Buffalo)

What do you mean by Bombing?

I already have an intake kit and exhaust. The dealer here said it would not cause any warranty problems to just put those items on. I dont really have a need for any more power. So I dont need the Edge.

"bombing" is a term that means basically the same as "souping it up" with high performance parts. I am at the same point you are. I've got the muffler straight piped and have an AFE stage 2 intake on my '05. It's got plenty of power for what I need and the dealer is ok with these mods. However I would really like to have the juice/attitude system but then I always wonder what that will do to the warranty

The dealers seem to have quite a bit of discretion when it comes to providing warranty work on bombed trucks. I've read, here, of warranty work done on fairly heavily bombed trucks and have also read of warranty being denied for having an aftermarket muffler or air intake system.

Two of the dealers I spoke with, here in Phoenix, told me that as long as it had "a muffler and airfilter", they would provide warranty work. Didn't matter whose muffler or airfilter. Straight pipes are, aparently, a no-no.

Regarding the airfilter, one service mgr. told me of a customer that had a mans sock clamped to the throttle body intake. The customer had heard of racers using "the sock" for better air flow.
