Emissions stuff on an 06 5.9

I’ve been seeing posts and threads on running a 9blade turbine wheel vs a 10blade. Most noticeable difference is the sound of spool up and how loud the turbo will actually be.

here’s the question, what is/are pros/cons to the 9blade over the 10? Is it worth it?

Everything else being the same…

9 blade will have slower spool, but less restriction at high flow.

10 blade will spool better but have more top end restriction.

So it comes down to how you want to use your truck.

In reality it’ll be a daily driver, some yearly towing. Looking to overall build the truck as a reliable daily driver. Power goal is only around 550-600hp.

I personally wouldn’t use “only” and 550-600 together. Yes it’s easy to make 550-600 these days, but still takes a proper build to be done right. Are you planning on twins?

Now there is also the option of multiple tunes. A DD/Tow tune that uses a single turbo, and a hot tune that runs a little hotter but that’s fine if done right for occasional street use. I called it a max effort tune when I was tuning, it’s maximizes the components you have installed.

Something like the fleece cheetah, with all the supporting mods could do that.

It just depends on where you want your DD power sitting. I liked my 415rwhp DD/tow tune but could turn it up to over 500 when I wanted to.
