That doesnt look good for cummins when a small lame part of the engine that been around for 100 years keeps on failing.
I think it is the high RPM with a high flow water pump, with a not so high flow t-stat.
That's my guess...
Why it doesn't do it on stock trucks probably has to do with #6 cylinder not flash heating the water around it.
I think the freeze plug problem was cured with clipping some water fins on the water pump.
