I'm new to diesels, this is the first one I have owned. Its a '01. 5 HO (mods are in my signature), i'm towing my offroad truck for the first time tomorrow. I took it out for a test drive tonight with the truck and trailor hooked up, i'm running the Edge Comp on level 1. When accelerating the egt's hit around 1100-1200*, and stay there for a little bit until the rpm's get high enough to shift so I don't bog the engine when put into the next gear. When cruising down the highway at 60mph, the egt's are between 800-1000. Is it ok for the egt's to stay that high for a period of time? Also what rpm do people usually shift the CTD's at?
