Hi all,

I have had my ISSPRO EGT & boost gauges since week one of truck ownership. They were installed by Dean Rue of Orangevale Diesel in Sacto, CA. An excellent quality shop and man

Anyway, twice now I have had the EGT gauge start to act very arratically, the needle bouncing all over the place. While checking all wiring connections for solid contacts, I have now found the darn thermocouple has worked its way to finger looseness. I am afraid to tighten the darn thing too much, as I don't want to risk stripping it out. I have the OEM manifold, and the thermocouple is drilled and tapped pre-turbo, off to one side of center, as usual.

Any suggestions as to how to keep the darn thing tight permanently would be greatly appreciated.

I should also point out, that this weekend I am going to Brandon's place to have him install my 3 new SPA series 2 digital gauges :D:D:D

been there done that. I finally loosened the the jam nut so tc would turn free. Then tightened the #$^&$ out of the spud ( brass ), retighten jam nut after properly locating the tc. It has not come loose in over 25k mi. If you do screw it up you can go to the hardware store and get a 1/4" to 1/4 npt compression fitting to replace it with. Depending on brand you might have to drill out the ID to fit tc thru, the inner shoulder for compression ring might interfere with the tc passing thru.

good luck

Hopefully Teflon tape wasn't used to seal the tc, it can't take the heat and will burn up. Use only anti-seize. Tighten it good but don't reef on it, that's how manifolds crack.

Mine was a little loose so I gnurled around the opening. I took an awl and a 3 pound sledge and tapped all the way around the tc (not too hard if its not enough you can always go back and do it again) about an eighth of an inch from the opening. It worked great no problems to date. by the way it sounds all sorts of screwed up when one of those tc's pop out under 40 lbs of boost.
