I just got around to fixing my EGT gauge. It would come on for a few then fall back to zero. Whomever installed it, just clamped the connector over the insulation with one of those crappy clamp on connectors that U-Haul used to love to use. I cut the bad sections out and soldered it in, then put heat shrink over the connection, should be good and solid now!
Not having anything to base what it should be running on, I thought I would pick your brains. It is 53 degrees here, if I really run it hard, an empty truck, it peaks at about 750 degrees. Just cruising down the Interstate at 70, it runs 550 to 600. Looks like 300 is a good average in town. I was really surprised how fast the temperatures crash when I take an exit, normally it will fall to 350 or so by the end of the ramp. Does all this sound about normal? Thanks, Glen
