Since my original post asking for opinions about the Superchips D-Box, I have a little more info regarding the family member's core issues and requirements now...
My bother-in-law is looking for a mild performance upgrade. He owns and operates a diesel concrete pump truck, so knows all the why's and benefits of guages. He's not on the best of terms with his dealer and is worried that having an EGT gauge would give the dealer reason to snoop around further and he'd get his warranty voided even if he had removed the fueling box before taking it in.
He had called Superchips and was told that the D-Box didn't raise EGT's enough to worry about a guage. When I saw that the D-Box appeared to be an Edge EZ in disguise, I told him how you all strongly recommend the guage. So anyway, that's why we are trying to gather more info on the Superchips box. He'd just like a performance upgrade that doesn't require "extra" stuff that could tip off the dealer.
If dealers see an EGT guage (or others for that matter) do they go checking to see if the MAP and data link connectors have been messed with recently?
Has anybody had this happen?
Any other advice I could pass along would be much appreciated?
