A couple of months ago, l tried out the Bullydog TD program for a few days but decided not to purchase it. Immediately after leaving the shop, I noticed the truck sounded different (kinda like a gasser) and drove as if it had something above stock hp. I also noticed the egt's would climb faster and higher than normal. In other words, I might see 1150-1200F at wot, but now, it comes on much quicker and as high as 1250-1275F. I went back to the shop that installed it and was told the stock program was successfully downloaded. Since then, I've checked for exhaust leaks and even took it to the dealer for diagnosing. Long story short, I did find one leak at a clamp (about 5' from the downpipe) and fixed it. The service department indicated everything was okay during the diagnostic check; they even took care of a tsb while I was there.

To this day, the truck still does not sound the same and egt's are higher than normal. However, power feels like stock again. Would removal of the boost elbow (supplied with the Edge EZ) be the cause for higher EGTs? I ask because the shop that installed the BD damaged the threads when removing it and now I am running the stock elbow. Thanks in advance, James.

The elbow in the turbo shouldn't have an effect on your egt's just amount of boost before waste gate opens. check your induction system, make sure all your boost side clamps are tight and your air filter is clean.

I have checked all connections and cleaned the filter twice but still no change. This evening, I'll do a more thorough check and report any findings. Thanks for the help.

If you were using the modified boost elbow previously and had lower EGT's and now you not using it and have higher egt's that's your answer. The modified boost elbow allows your truck to gain a couple psi higher allowing more air into the engine thus lowering your egt's.

Your'e exactly right. However, I haven't noticed a drop in boost; maybe I wouldn't since we're only talking a few psi. Guess I need to contact EDGE for another fitting, unless a local parts house stocks them. I'll get'r in and let ya know the outcome.

thanks

Edge instructions specifically say the boost elbow lowers EGTs. I run easily 32-33 pounds of boost with the elbow. Unless the boost gets too high (for the size turbo) and just pushes super hot air, more air will lower EGTs.

I think your temps will return to what you are used to when you reinstall the elbow.

Thanks Les. When I purchased the box, I installed it along with the fitting, therefore, I have nothing to compare numbers to. Although we're not talking about a drastic increase in temperature, I wouldn't of expected it to have climbed to these numbers. I'll get the fitting back in and see what happens.

The elbow arrived last night. Got it in and test drove the truck. EGTs and boost back to normal. Thanks for the input!
