I'm gathering pieces to complete my on board air system. I have firestone airbags that I want to be able to air up from the cab. I need an elctrically controled air valve, so I won't have to run airlines into the cab. What are others using?

Air Lift sells what you're are talking about. A real neat system. The control airs the bags seperately and has a digital read out inside, on a monitor, for the amount in each. I sold one friday and it's a neat deal.

Any hydraulic and air shop that sells Parker brand can get you control valves. I'm using a Parker 3/8" for my air horn and they're large enough to even use for a dump valve if need be. Many different sizes available.

thanks guys,

I've checked every place in town, and the problem I'm having is trying to find one that will seat under pressure. With an air horn there is no pressure do to being released out the horn. With bags there is pressure.

I'm doing a custom consoul of switches and gauges. I will check out the air lift site, and hopefully I can buy the valve seperate.

Here are some site for air suspension valves. These should be able to seat under pressure since they're used for air bag suspensions.

Airbagit.com

CK Customs

Hope this helps,

Richard, should those be able to work as well with an air horn?

Shane, What are you using for an air pump? I'm using a york on my truck- this thing PUMPS. If I rev the engine to around 1600 rpm it can hold 70 psi with the blow nozzle held open- and I don't even have tanks mounted yet!

found a nice air valve on ebay, but its for horns. Thinking about using it on mine.

I picked up two tanks and two 24" trumpets today from a big truck junkyard- One set is definitely going on the truck- I'm thinking about mounting the other on my wifes Honda Civic. :D  :-laf :-laf :-laf

The Parkers as wells as the SMC's are perfect for air horns. Like I said earlier, any hydraulic and air supply should have something for you. I saw the unit on E-bay while I was searching but it's not a sealed unit for outside applications. Those are used indoors only. As you can see below the Parkers have a sealed coil and wire assembly for outdoor use.

smc or parker valves will both work. I have a full air suspension on my truck and I use parker valved all the way around for the air. For your application I would think that 1/4" valves would be plenty. Or if you feel you need to air up quickly use 3/8" fills and regulate the dumps or buy 1/4" dumps so you can control it better. I have 1/2 valves all the way around and they are very fast even with the entire weight of the truck on them.

That's the one that I ordered but the one in the picture is what I recieved. I was cool with that since the Parker in the picture is what I was after to start with.

Looks good Gypsyman!!

Willys. . I bought the Viair 450. I won't be using it that often, so it should work perfect. I will be using a 5 gal tank as well. just gotta get the bags plumbed in, then I will focus on the horns!! :D

btanner, you wouldn't happen to have the parker part number for the 1/4 and 3/8??? I was wondering about size so that helps me out. I think I will go 1/4 for filling. I was thinking about going with the airlift valves that turbo thom mentioned, but if I had part numbers I could get them locally which I would preffer. Thanks again!

No I don't know the numbers but any 12v activated solenoid will work. Should be able to go to an industrail wherehouse and ask them what they have. I would think getting them locally would be cheaper but if not I would use either suicidedoors.com or airinovations.com Both are good vendors and have top quality service and great prices.

Willy,

I have a 98 12 valve and wondering how you have the york bolted up. Please send me any info you may have. Thanks... Dallas Oo.

Ordered a SMC 1/4" valve from suicidedoors.com for 29. 95, shipping included.

Started to get a 3/8", price was about the same, but figured I didnt need it with only one trumpet.

DOverton, check out my post on Yorks, here's the link

Let me know if you need more pics. I'd be glad to send some your way. :)

edit: sorry it took so long to get back to you, last time I was replying I was interrupted
