electric rv brakes

Oo. Just got issue 63, in the TDRV sectionit said to check the elec. brakes by listening to the hum, at my age 78 I don't hear the hum, but some years ago I read about useing a compass, just put it up close to the wheel nuts and then have your helper put the brakes on the compass the needle will move to the wheel, but check the direction of it before putting it up to the wheel.
