As the title states, I have a P2509 and Chassis codes A4 and A6(which I cannot find listed on a c code list) in a 2004.5 24v 2500 and I am trying to find the best long term solution.
Prior to the code being thrown, I would have intermittent surging while driving but was never consistent to actually try and diag.
Truck sat for about 8 months as I had a work truck that I drove daily. Truck was started and idled to warm up every week while parked. Went to move the truck and I had no functioning gauges, truck would crank but not start. P2509 code was present after this. I was able to clear the code and truck would start and code was not present immediately after. This quickly became a constant code but the truck would still start.
Tested and replaced batteries, didn't solve the problem. Long story short, had to jump the fuel relay to get the truck started after the last time it would not start for me. I know some guys will run a switch to the relay to bypass the ECM but don't know what other problems this can make long term. I checked chassis codes and cannot find any literature showing what A4 and A6 codes represent.
Do i need to bite the bullet and have the ECM remanned or can i get away with running a relay switch long term?
