I would like to assemble a list, per se, of all required electrical devices, power sources, and controls, for each circuit for a factory 1st Gen to operate normally. I'm not concerned so much with which wires and what color, more what devices, what kind of power they require (constant 12v, metered 12v, computer-controlled), and if possible tips for upgrades to the factory harness.

This 'list' would be invaluable for anyone wanting to do a conversion and can help troubleshooting.

What I can think of are:

- Message Center. Computer controlled?

- Intake heater grid. Computer controlled? What governs the timing for the warm-up cycle, and what tells it to stop for normal ops?

- Fuel heater. On with ignition, regular constant 12v power from any source?

- KSB soleniod. Computer controlled? Ignition controlled?

- Oil pressure sender

- Water temp sender

- Water-in-fuel sender

Please add inputs or corrections, and any tips for reliable power upgrades to any circuits.

Many thanks,

- M2

Here's what I think I know, feel free to correct me!

Computer controlled;

Message center

Grid heater

WIF sensor

Temp sensor

Fuel heater is powered off the same circuit as the shut off solenoid.

KSB has a thermo switch on intake. Same circuit as the shut off solenoid.

Up grade would be relays on the headlight and taillight circuits.

Using the 91. 5 to 93 as a reference. And my FSM. ;)

Is a short abbraviation for some german . . ha in short its a part that advances the timing to aid cold starts its that little thing on the side of the injection pump with the a hard line ... .

The brain box of your truck. Obviously theres not much that it controls like on the newer motors or on a gasser, but its what takes the signals from all your sensors and decodes them as little annoying lights on your instrument panel.

its the little black box with vent slits in it mounted under your driverside fender. also call the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) or the ECM (electronic/engine control module).

if he has a '89 it doesn't have one my '89 doesn't have one . . only the abs computer. . which I disconnected any how... my '89 has no computer in fender well. . and has a regular voltage regular on firewall, manual speedo, and what not . . one of the reasons I kept it, to swap the wiring in my 92 or maybe this crewcab cab
