I really like your front hitch build I loved my 99 for 23 years now love my new one gone but not forgotten

I should have taken a picture of the hitch I started with. I spend over a hour digging through a pile of hitches and looking at others spread around the junk yard. I wanted the receiver to come out of the front air dam and not below it like the commercial ones available. I build this hitch in August 2011 using only parts from the junk yard one I purchase for $45 + tax.

MichaelD86. I am surprised that your TDR research did not come up with a ton of tuner info for deleted or emissions intact 2007.5-2012.
Even I have posted way back on the Banks Automind C.A.R.B. blessed programmer. You can PM me or call for any performance and
milage gain info and the all-around benefits. I'm still happy with the performance with the Banks for the last 10 years. Always
passes smog. 400/800 max rear wheel power. I keep it on the tow setting for daily driver. Handles like a 1/2 ton. For you,
check out the Banks Automind 66412.

TommyTurbo
Thanks for your help. I ended up pulling the trigger on the banks automind 66412. I’m making a trip to Texas next week towing a trailer. Hoping to have it by then to see how it improves. I’ll keep you all updated.

I wanted the receiver to come out of the front air dam and not below it like the commercial ones available.

Yeah, I want to do something similar on my 20', there is alot more going on up in the front of this truck than I had on my 04, but I do like that it is no below the air dam!

That looks pretty good for turn key,,. I wonder how many warning(s) I'll get when I throw my surf rod and bait cooler rack, or the bike rack on in front of that camera...:D

Around here most guys with the 2007 to 2012 stock trucks use the Smarty S-67 on SW3 or SW5, although I have no personal experience. I know the stock smarty tunes are very clean on my 2003. SW3 wakes it up, thats the 60 hp tune. It runs much better than stock though, pulls my 5th wheel MUCH better with no noticeable smoke. I have the 305/555 engine. I decided to stick with the old trucks as long as possible, if the engine blows I'll have it rebuilt!

Decided to do an update. I purchased the Banks Automind tuner model #66412. The only tune I used so far was the work/tow tune. I felt more power and it changed shift points to stay in the power band longer. I towed a trailer to Texas from Colorado and noticed a little better mileage while towing and more passing power.
One thing I don’t like is how it shifts. While cruising unloaded in town it slams into 4th gear kinda hard and locks up the converter. Then on the 4-5 shift it unlocks the converter runs rpm’s up high for a few seconds as it hunts for 5th then hits 5th and locks up the converter again. Given the 68rfe concerns this worries me so I tuned it back to stock and all this went away. Overall I like the power but don’t like the trans tuning. I am reaching out to Banks to talk about it and will update this thread once I get any info.
