I am looking for anyone who would loan me the use of the above tools for a few days. I wanted to buy some but cummins is out of them at my local and they want $15 to ship other than there regular stock order which takes 7-10 days. I want to replace my vp-44 next thursday/friday.

Thanks

Dave:)

A socket and ratchet on the alt nut will replaced the barring tool. I have always used A $10 steering wheel puller on the pump gear. I have changed 4 VP44 pumps (not all on My truck) and never had A problem.

I used the socket-on-the-alternator; worked fine. I 'borrowed' the puller that Blue Chip advertises for $50, refunded when returned. I don't see why a steering wheel puller wouldn't work, other than being a little tight in the working room dept. I've seen lots of various pullers, large and small, down at my local tool rental yard...

Good luck, and take your time. Replace your crank sensor while you're in there... cheap at Hoesli (http://www.hoeslidiesel.com./specials.htm) and easy to do with the VP out.
