Last week I posted under the same heading about my #4 cylinder being scored and pending sleeve/piston replacement.

Cap Rock Diesel in Hobbs, NM relayed to me the following report concerning the injectors which had been sent out for diagnosis:

1 injector was dripping fuel(which undoubtably caused the #4 cyl problem).

ALL of the other injectors were burnt and question was raised 'How hot of a chip was in the truck?' Well, I told them the truth which is the basic Power Edge EZ Module. It was installed by Chips Transmissions in Sevierville, TN when they installed/rebuilt my transmission completely with DTT components, etc. Module was on setting #3 right out of the box as truck still has stock injectors.

Chips Transmissions did all of this about 1 year ago and truck had about 94000 miles on it then and now has about 104000. I pulled a 16ft cargo trailer from SC to NM last month which was about 9000 lbs. Total weight was 17,800 lbs.

I am having Cap Rock Diesel replace all of the injectors. It has been suggested that my pump may be on the lean side.

I have spoken with the Edge Products folks and they been very helpful but like me, have no real answers as to why this happened.

Any suggestions? Would bigger injectors help? Disconnect the EZ Box?

Thanks in advance

Well, whomever made the statement that the pump 'may be set lean' certainly doesn't understand how a diesel operates.

Didn't they tag each injector so they would know which one went with each cylinder? You don't want to assume the dripper was on #4, you want to know it was #4.

Hi

My bad there. It was #4 and it wasn't anyone from that shop that suggested the 'lean' theory. I spoke with the injection testor in Odessa, TX he feels that it was just an injector failure. Costly failure to say the least. I should have the truck back this week.

As a side note, I asked Cap Rock to check for the KDP and hit the jackpot there. It had moved out about 1/16 of an inch. They used locktite and tabbed it. About time I had a little luck swing my way over this.

Thanks for the response.
