I put the pedal on the floor to make a pass, going about 60, at 80 I lifted off, and the pedal stayed on the floor, and the motor kept pulling. I turned the key off, the motor turned off, and the trans stayed in gear. (6 spd auto) When it got down to about 45 mph, I turned the key on, and it lit, but didn't rev up, held steady at about 1200 RPM in Drive, even though the pedal was still stuck on the floor. Seemed to be a 'limp' mode, got off to a safe place, and it came down to idle. Dash was showing CEL and ETC. I turned it off, and it shut down.
Everything under the hood looked OK, I pulled the pedal off the floor, and it seemed to cycle OK.
Figured nothing else to check, so I turned it on. It fired right up, no warning lights, and everything appeared to cycle thru with no problem.
Drove it to work, about 1 mile, then home 12 hrs later, about 14 miles. No problems, no warning lights.
Any thoughts on what happened?
37,000 miles, mostly used for towing or traveling, not usually a commuter.
