Well, gang, I made my run with new gauges, and the EDGE, the only mod I've added. The loaded condition is a 8,000 lb 5th wheel trailer. Here are my temps at 65 and/or under load:

EGT: unloaded 500 loaded 1200

transmission: unloaded 125 loaded 210

REAR AXLE: unloaded 150 loaded 150

FUEL PRESSURE: unloaded 8-10 psi, loaded 5psi

The max temps occurred on a 7% grade at 3,000 ft (Blue Diamond road or HWY 160, out to Pahrump for the locals). I was able to maintain 55mph. Before I added the EDGE I had to drop down to 40.

Are these readings ok?

What are others seeing when under similar loaded conditions?

:) :) :)

Your EGT looks alright. I generally downshift when I get to 1150-1200 to cool things off. I have never gotten more than 1200 degrees. I don't have the same load you do. My gross is only 11550 and going up the Grape Vine on I-5 only gives me 1000 degrees and 14psi on cruise at 60 mph. My boost is around 20 with this load. Your fuel pressure sounds low to me. I had a bad lift pump with your pressures. It eventually failed and would only supply 3 psi.

I am running stage 3 injectors. No box.

Hope this gives you some insight.

Boost and EGT

CCCRam, did you add a turnbuckle or mod the wastegate in any way? Your 1200* EGT under load sounds like stock boost of about 19-20psi. If you add a turnbuckle or do the . 22LR shell casing fix to the hardline on the wastegate [I think you have the HY turbo] you will see about 100* drop in temps. Boost with an EZ should get up to 28-30psi.

If you are still using the stock air box/filter, changing to a BHAF will drop your EGT as well. Otherwise your temps are right in line with most trucks.

Was the 55mph on the Blue Diamond running in direct [3rd gear] or in OD? What RPM was this with your 4. 10 gears?

I suppose I should tell you that I am running an Amsoil two stage foam filter. That probably helps my temps a bit. It diffinitly makes the turbo louder and spool quicker.

I also have a boot module and elbow. On the dyno under load I saw 30 psi boost, temp went to 1250 and fuel was 13 psi WOT.

At these parameters I got 285 rwHp and 617 lb ft

I don't run my truck this hard myself.

All look good. There is nothing to fix. 1200 under load is just about perfect. It will sit at 1300 FOREVER and not hurt anything. I also do not "fix" EGT trouble that is not there.

Where are you reading the transmission temperature? If you are at 210 degrees in the pan I'd say you are to hot. Are you towing in OD or 3rd and at what speed? Part of your post says 65 mph and then it says 55mph.

Your transmission temps sound like mine, if the TC is not locked up with my switch, or I'm stuck in traffic in town. I pull a 12k fiver and EGT is the same as yours on my stocker.

I haven't modified the wastegate in any way. Once I got below 60 mph I dropped out of overdrive into 3rd. Unfortunately I didn't note the RPM.

When I got the EDGE it came with an elbow, but didn't explain its purpose. Is this something I should consider?

Is there more information somewhere on this issue?

Tran temp is measured at the temp from the deep extension Magtec pan. I'm towing up the grade in OD until I get below 60, then I drop down to 3rd to keep the rpms up.
