:mad:My 06 mega 6speed has a noise that sounds like valve lash or a loose piston or something. It is most noticable when you are in traffic and can hear the noise coming off a wall or vehicle next to you. It happens at all rpms but is drowned out by the engine at higher rpm. It is real noticable at idle when first started and then just gets a little quieter. I can lay under the truck and hear it better than with the hood open. It still makes the tick when I am in gear going down a hill and turn off the motor. I took it in to Colorado springs dodge for a pretty good valve cover leak and the tick and they said the valves were out of adjustment but it did not change the noise. A tech I know said that it could be an injector solenoid but I think shutting the engine down in gear would eilminate the injection system. The truck has 16,000 miles on it and this has been going on since aroung 2000 miles. Any ideas??

My 04. 5 had a tick and after listening to the engine idle with my head under the hood found it to be a loose fuel line clamp next to the #5 injector. The fuel line would move with each firing event, making a ticking sound. One minute with a wrench and the ticking was gone. Hope this helps.

Well I am willing to look for anything; this is fairly loud, but I will look, thanks.
