Boy, I like this thing. Believe it or not this thing really outperforms my old 6. 9 Ford!
The question and shopping lists are growing long.
First this thing is completely stock except for 2" Skyjacker lift/spring on front.
Apparently done to level out truck. These were put on 3 years ago along with Rancho 5000 shocks.
The first thing will be new tires going on Saturday morning. Decided to go with 235-85 16's. 245-75-16's were on there and look puny. Seemed like narrower would address potential rubbing on duals.
Second will be pyrometer, boost, and tach.
Will go with Hewitt pyro as I'm connected there and probably Autometer or Westach boost and tach. Later trans temp and psi.
Third will be adapting rear bench from a '97 that I found so the whole family can actually ride in it. Time to use that big ol'camper.
Fourth address that rear spring issue. Local 4x4 shop agreed that the stiffer front upgrade and stock rear could make the problem I questioned about in earlier post.
They suggested air bags if not doing serious off-roading.
Fifth, If you guys are doing performance upgrades then dammit I'll have to do it too!
But I'll have to sell some other toys to do it lest I'll be flogged by better half.
Questions:
1) Belt tensioner pulley is squeaky. Can new bearing be put in or do I have to buy new one? If not is this a Dodge only part? Please tell me I can buy just pulley and not whole unit.
2)Truck is auto. When I'm in gear stopped the truck chatters a tiny bit, really anxious to go. If I give it the slightest bit of throttle it really smoothes out. So maybe I can crank up the idle a bit? Or maybe some trans engagement adjustment?
3)Thirdly: Occasionally a bit of a clunky shift between 2 and 3 but only at slow speeds. Ford used to do this and seemed like it was lack of vacuum generated at these low speeds. Maybe the same deal? Smooth as silk when driving more aggressively.
Well that's the short list.
Thanks for listenin'!
