Has anyone had experience with Equal Tire Balancing powder/beads? Here is the link to the website http://www.imiproducts.com/equal/index.aspx. I picked up two new steer tires and when I got to the tire shop where I had dropped the wheels off, and saw no weights, I was told the used equal so as not to have to use hammer on weights on my aluminum wheels. The tires are BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A's 16. 5X33X12. 5.

PS, my wheels don't clear the calipers with stick on weights.

I drove the truck to work this morning and didn't feel anything terrible while on Rt. 80 but I am still skeptical.

Equal ?

I use centramatics because I do not have to change anything when I have a tire repaired or replaced. I have heard from drivers that use equal that they like it for the balance. R C :)

I use Equal in my semi tires and have never had a balance problem. And I'm getting ready to use on the Dodge cause the calipers knocked off my stick on weights, too.

Centramatics and Equal

Equal and their like work to balance with beads placed inside the tire and rotate

around to achieve balance. Centramatics accomplish the same job but the metal beads are inside a tube mounted to a metal ring and placed as a unit behind the wheel when mounting the tire. I change tires so often that I prefer not having to mess with a product inside the tire. RC :)

I wouldn't waste my money on those beads. I have some in the tires on my Jeep and they don't work very good. It will balance and unbalance all the time, so it's nice and smooth and then the Jeep is like a washing machine on the spin cycle... back to smooth... washing machine.

I have beads in the tires too and I have been very happy with them. I would not buy Equal, ceramic beads are a better option.

Maybe I don't have enough in my tires, I dunno? I put 8oz, which is what they told me to put. Even though 1 tire I tried to balance and it needed 13 oz on it (36" TSLs)
