I used 10' of vacuum tube and ran the Espar fuel line in it to protect the line against rubbing.

I did one other thing different, I lifted the bed instead of dropping the tank. This was much easier for me because I have a 60 gal. Aerotank, but I feel it is the eases way to do the Espar fuel pickup install. I removed the front six bolts to the bed along with the ground strap, then loosened the last two bolts in the back of the bed only half way out. Take the three screws out of the fuel tank fill tube under the fuel door, then used a engine hoist to lift the front of the bed about three feet in the air. This works well if you have the equipment.

What kind of weight do you suspect we are talking about? Is there any kind of alignment risk after you pull the bed?

I've thought about doing this, nice to see someone tried it.

I have a 60 gal Aerotank which was dealer installed. I can not find the aux fuel pickup. I looks like the main tank pickup and the sending connection is all there are. The original tank had one,which the complete unit was removed and replaced. I was looking to lift the bed for replacement. If it does not have one how about hooking into the fuel line somewhere between tank and lift pump? Don't want to but if I have to.

How about removing bolts on the tank side and loosing the passenger side bolts and lifting sideways? this way you may not have to lift as high. Bad idea or not? "Bert"

Dave, we will have access to one medium size Kubota and one BIG 65hp John Deere on the 22nd, if you want to lift the bed it will be NO PROBLEM. Use the bucket with some straps, too easy #ad

That sounds like a question for the Espar techs. Give them a call and see where to pull fuel from.

Two people on either side of the bed lifting at the front should be able to lift it the required height with a third installing blocks underneath the bed. There is no alignment problem after lowering because of the two rear bolts that stay in. You’ll have to move the bed a little to align the other bolts, but one person can accomplish this. The reason I lifted the front instead of the side is because of the wiring for the lights at the rear of the truck bed, they’d have to be disconnected to do it. Also I’ve lifted it twice now and the first time I did it with a floor jack.

Bert, the sending unit off my tank attached right to the Aerotank, I didn’t have to use the supplied piece for the top of the tank. My sending unit had the correct holes in it for the Espar fuel section tubes, but there should be room to cut a hole in the Aerotank supplied top piece if needed for installation of the suction tubes. I feel you could tie in to the fuel line if needed but I’d try adapting the tanks top piece first. I hope this is what you needed to know.

"If the fuel is taken from the main fuel line via a tee, the heater may remove the fuel from the line to the engine. This would result in difficulty starting your engine (due to lack of fuel). Also, the fuel pickup pipe for the engine is significantly larger than the 2mm ID pipe supplied with the heater. Since the fuel flow is so small, the fuel may fall out of the vehicle pickup pipe, and cause operational problems with the heater. It is recommended than a separate pickup pipe be installed for the heater. "

Lifted the bed today and removed the unit. Will have a hole drilled in it tomorrow.
Used a hydrolic jack. A little slow but did ok. Lifted up like Animal stated in his post(front to back). I have a little diesel perfume on me so I'm in the back room on the computer until it disipates somewhat. #ad

It sounds somewhat like an RV water heater and a jet whine.
It took the remote out 220ft with the pickup in the garage. Fired up first click. Antenna up inside the dash. Remote in the glove box. Good luck on your weekend comming up.
