Mike, before putting on my Geno's Garage kit,I heard that if you short trip your truck frequently, you will have more activity into the overflow bottle. This has been true with me up to this point. While driving from Alaska to South Carolina I had very little going into the bottle, not even a drop on the bottom of it. We are now staying with relatives down here{S. C. }, and as soon as I start short tripping the truck it starts puking oil. Thats when I decided to relocate. You do have to vent that hose into some sort of vented bottle. If you just let the hose hang, without a bottle you will have oil dripping out of the hose on whatever is below it.

Crazy Horse,
Just got back from the local hardware store and have the hose and fittings to do the retro tomorrow morning.
The short trips make sense and that is what I did when it puked oil last night.
Thanks for the heads up.
Mike

Have you checked the ovious such as the oil being over full? A long shot, but worth a look.

Well back to the drawing board, she just puked out a bunch of oil last night #ad
Walked out this morning to find a bunch of drips in the driveway and the underneath of the front end covered in oil!!! Have to relocate the bottle and get it back on for now. Just wish I knew what was causing it. Jim Leonard told me this was normal up to about 60k, but it seems excessive to me.
Looking for ideas.

Thanks Barry, I did check that, was okay. I am putting the hose on this morning, I picked up some clear hose so I could see if there is any oil in it. Don't know how long it will stay clear but thought I would try it.

Mike, the sad thing about the whole drip bottle to begin with is,it's a very poorly designed solution to catching the blow by,or venting the crankcase, especiallly right behind the fan on the front of the engine{DUMB DUMB DUMB}. We all ought to submit our incurred expences to DC for reimbursement.

Crazy Horse,
Couldn't agree with you more!! I just relocated it today and it is back on the frame near the transmission. Just got it zip tied to the frame, after christmas I will fabricate a sanitary bracket/holder for the bottle.
Have a great holiday!

Does this kit still exist?

I called Genos, and the lady I spoke with basically told me that they dont have anything like this, and hung up. I guess she didnt want to take the list of goodies I was going to order. Maybe she was just really busy...

I notice the date of the thread, is from quite awhile ago, so the kit may be discontinued.

Anyways... Does anyone have a part number for this bottle relocation kit?? Mines finally starting to puke at at about 73k miles. Better get it handled before the driveway starts looking like I ride a harley (that aughtta stir the pot). :D

check here....

Shorty, I remember this thread. Actually, back them I found the same bottle they were using in either the Summitt and/or the Jeg's racing catalogs. I believe it was a one quart bottle that was an overflow/puketank bottle. It was the same bottle in the kit for about half the price.

Well I sold the truck I put the Geno's kit on. This thread was started a couple of years ago. I've got a 2002 Cummins now and this time around I'm gonna make my own kit. All you have to do is put a union into the existing hose and put another piece of hose onto it and extend it down to a makeshift drain bottle in front of the LF tire. Make sure to vent the bottle or what ever you use to catch. There is an area that will house a pretty good size bottle instead of the little punny one from the factory. I think you can make one yourself for less than $15. 00 and do it right. Pay real close attention when you run the extension hose that you secure it away from the fan and DON'T kink the hose.

Geno's Breather Overflow Kit

I put one of these kits on when they first came out with it. They stopped selling them after a few months. Actually, it was a nice little kit (very reasonably priced for you what you got), that was based on the 1 qt overflow bottle from Summit Racing, but they modified it to accept the hose barb fitting.

I still have mine on the truck, but their concept needed a little re-engineering to work right (for the same reason I think they stopped selling them). The only thing I have noticed since improving mine is that the breather will get saturated with oil after awhile, and then it will leak down the side of the bottle and still hit the ground. So, it's not a totally leak free system, but it is certainly better than what came on my truck from the factory - nothing!

Checked my "bottle" today---a little over 15K and it had about 1/4 inch of really black oil in the bottom.

Interesting thing though was that it had four holes (about 1/4 inch diameter), in it. Two were right below the shoulder of the bottle and two were down about 1 inch. . Thus the bottle would never get full and block the in tube. You would just start to get the spots you would get without the bottle. Its an '01 ETH DEE

I agree that is the way mine is set up and it would just drip, it could never get plugged. I don't think mine has ever been emptied?
