Santa Claus: An Engineer's Perspective

I cut my leg sunday and required stitches. or at least that's what i thought they would do!!!

imagine Jack from Will and Grace (TV program)... . that was the ER nurse. . this little devil, without numbing it first of anything just started pouring on what felt like battery acid that stung like [sensored] then proceded to staple my skin back together :--) 8 total and each one hurt worse than the last. after he was done the other "real female" nurse asked if i was OK? what H$!! kind of question is that, is what i felt like asking her.

then they wanted to give me a shot for tetnus. I told them after the punishment i just recieved i would forgo anything further and left without it

they gave me the tool to remove them with and made me promise to go see my doctor in ten days. YAAA RIGHT!!! I'll just get liquored up and have my wife do it. it couldn't hurt any worse :D

Well, I've had wires removed. After my appendectomy (with complications, long story), I had (and still have the scar) about a 4" incision from just above my "hey-nanny-nanny" to approaching my naval. I was under the gas when they put them in, but 5 days later, taking them out... OUCH!!!

Todd...

Been sliced and diced more than a few times in various bar room recreational activities and done the stiched and stapled routine. Lots of fun wasn't it??. I'd bet the nurse from hell who did the job got lots of enjoyment in your pain while your eyes were looking like this,   . Better days will come as it heals and get all itchy and scratchy,he he he. Oh and one last thing, one word for the removal, drink lots of mind altering and soothing drinks before removal,it MAY deaden the pain that day..... Andy

P. S. -If that idea does not work let me know,I am schooled in how to remove them and trust me,I won't let it hurt you too much. :D :D :D

Once when I was a weee bitty one. The knife got wedged pretty good into a watermelon. Well I got the knife out but not without cuttin my left hand index finger. I could see the joint in my finger. Trust me bones are white. Well I decided to wait 20 minutes cause mom would get off work. She was not too happy about me waiting.

Well off to see the doc. I'm laying on the table. He starts jabbing me with a needle full of novacain. The worst part of it all was the numourus times he jabbed that needle into the bone.

Todd, I read your reply to that other post. If your around horses, you really ought to have a tetnus shot anyway since horses are tetnus carriers.

Staple Removers

Never got stapled, but used to remove them from folks that had total hip jobs. 30 staples or more at a time. Believe it or don't, dry skin makes it hurt more when you take them out. If you have oily skin you are better off. The skin won't stick to the metal staple and it comes out easier. Light touch, steady hands and if the cut is long, do every other staple first, then go back and remove the remaining ones. If you wait too long to remove them it hurts more, too.

Kewl thing about staples is that you do not have to cover the wound when you shower. Fiber stitches will wick in and hold moisture/dirt that breeds nasty things under the skin. The staples don't do that. This means less crusty, itchy scabbing.

Disclaimer here. I'm not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV. YMMV, closed track, professional driver, do not try this at home. You know what I'm trying to say.
