HI guys... . Been some time since my last post. I have a real problem. I recently had my head fire ringed and now I am losing ALOT of oil out the vent tube on the timing cover. There was excessive smoke in the engine compartment and oil EVERYWHERE>... I ran a long hose out past the transmission, and after 10 miles, the whole rear diff wheels and springs are covered in oil. What could be causing this?

:{

No, it is not that. I had the whole thing apart and cleaned out, and drove 10 miles, then the whole rear end was covered in oil.

Sounds like possibly something may have got in the cylinder during the Firering job. Crossing my fingers, but sounds like a cylinder may be scuffed or bad ring letting compression into the crank case. I hope I am wrong! How many miles are on the truck?

You probably have a fire ring that didn't seat properly and now you're pushing compression into an oil passageway. Worse case the block/head wasn't cut right. Hopefully it's just a bad ring or headgasket.

How many times have you retorqued? Do you run studs?

This is very possible! I would have the engine compression checked to find the problem. PC12Driver is probably right about this... . hopefully!

Yep, sounds like it's time to pull the head again and see what didn't seat. The fact that this started right after getting the head ringed kinda points to where the problem is at. You'll probably want a new set of fire rings and a head gasket. Once the crush is out of the fire rings you don't want to reuse them. And once compression blows past a ring, the headgasket is probably damaged too.

Have you retorqued the head yet? You might get lucky with a retorque and stop the leak. But if you've put the throttle to it before the first retorque, you may have damaged the headgasket.
