Yoa! Recently my Dodge Ram--1997, Auto, 127,000 miles--has been doing some peculiar things. To start with, the only recent modifications have been an addition of a BD pressurelok to the transmission. In addition I received a notice from the Dodge people indicating my throttle linkage might be defective, causing a possible stuck throttle. The Dodge people fix/modified it for free. Lately I have noticed when I step on the diesel it takes considerably more force to push the pedal down with a considerable loss of acceleration. If I force the pedal to the floor my acceleration improves moderately but doesn't come close to what it was previous to the malfunction. Once I hit overdrive, the pressure on the throttle instantly releases, you can feel it, and power and proper functioning returns to normal. When you slow down, you go through the same ritual again with very sluggish acceleration. There is no noticeable smoke or other obvious signs of mechanical problems. EGT/boost are within normal parameters. Does anybody have any suggestions concerning this problem? Thanks

After the installation of my pressure lock, I had a "hitch" in the throttle. I thought it was something in the valve body or kick down cable. No, it was the blasted pressure lock. If you take out the fuse from the pressure lock valve and the problem goes away... it's the pressure lock. I called BD and they replaced it no questions asked.

Could it be that the dealer "mechanic" screwed up while performing the recall procedure? Ask them to check it out and, if not fixed, have Cummins check it.

I just had my dodge diesel in the shop for the recall throttle linkage. Your not alone. It seems that my accelerator pedal became a little stiffer. I have to put more pressure on the pedal on accelaration. Although it did not change performance level.

The recall shouldn't increase throttle effort, if anything it should decrease it. Sounds like the dealer's parts changing monkey has been misbehaving.

I agree with Bill. I just did one last week and there are a couple throttle adjustments to do and they probably didn't do them.

Last Friday I returned the vehicle to the Dodge dealer. Apparently the problem I'm encountering involves my injection pump. The current pump and injector nozzles were upgraded last November. This was a Cummins upgrade which boosted my hp to 230 and increased my torque to approximately 600 ft lbs. The pump only has 15,000 miles on it. The Dodge Diesel mechanic indicated the problem involves a malfunctioning of the governor. The pump is still under warranty and I have a scheduled appointment with the cummins service department Thursday. I posted a question concerning my transmission about a month ago. In retrospect the problem probably wasn't the transmission but the injection pump. Thank you for all the responses I have received. R. Biggs
