Casey,

how do you like it ?was it worth it? still waiting for mine:mad:

I'm going to do mine myself also. mike

Mike, I am not sure why I got my brake within two days of ordering it. Perhaps Canada was allocated a specific number and the demand was low for them here. I know my wife was suspicious when I told her I ordered it because it wouldn't be here until March and then is shows up the same week. ;) There were no special deals in Canada that I am aware of. Hope yours comes in soon.

I got a chance to play with it this morning. Usually the last few weeks, the engine temp gauge will hardly register idling. With the brake activated I had normal operating temperature 10 minutes later. So that is a real nice feature. I activated the brake on our snow covered street and found the back end starting to slide so I would not use it under slippery conditions.

The installation is straight forward but it is pretty well an all day project for those of us who don't do this sort of thing often. I double checked every step and triple checked a few such as the ECM wiring. Be careful with the gasket, it is very fragile and I may have to replace mine as I have a bit of a leak when it is activated. I will retorque the clamps after a few miles to see if I can eliminated the leak.

It is definitely worth the money and I find that it has retarding action almost down to idle. Of course the braking action is more pronounced at the higher RPMs. I would do it again and I am looking forward to towing with it.

Casey,

Thanks for the info,I got bored waiting for my brake,so I bought the navigation radio with the cash I set aside. hopefully the brake will be here by spring. mike

My dealer called me late yesterday afternoon, and told me my Jacobs brake was in! I ordered it when I took posession of the truck in November. This was the one offered by DC for $299. 00.

I hope to get it installed in the next week or so. The bracket that mounts the pump doesn't look like it will fit around the front gear case, but then I haven't got a real good look at it either.

Hope it is as good as others who have installed them!

I finally received my e-brake form Dodge and installed it this past week-end. It works very well and the instructions were very good.

With all the underhood work

going on, has anyone come up with a "protector" for the A/C fins? Like a piece of cardboard/tin bent to cover them and prevent damage. Would think that this might be a problem (from looking at the new ones). Any other thoughts on some protection for the fins?

Da diesel-less SOTSU!!

ps: order cut-off is maybe March so may end up with a 04 due to date. Wish it could be ordered now with the 3k cash discount (2k frm DC and 500 from Farm and 500 from pkg deal).

I am in the process of fabricating a protective screen of expanded steel mesh to protect the front of the a/c condender and intercooler from larger stones and toes. The screens frame will bolt to the same place as the a/c condenser. It will also provide the attachment points for a canvas winter front that I have yet to make as well as insect screening for when the bugs get really bad. I have not come up with anything for the top edge of the a/c condenser however. This bends really easy.

Been talking to dealer about ordereding a 03 what incentives are out there now? I was told a 1000 rebate and no special financing. They offered to sell it at 100 over invoice.

I picked mine up last week and got the $1500 rebate. Also got 4. 1% conventional financing for 5 years through Chase Bank.

I had my exhaust brake installed tusday. Pacfic diesel brake in spokane did the install. They had the truck four hours. They did a nice job of installing the kit all the wires were tuked in and protected. The brake works great, you hear the compsor when it comes on but it isn't much loauder than the brake.

Rayb, I do not know if this is an appromiate question but if you feel comfortable what was the out the door price inclucing tax. I am concedring getting one installed also and I am very close to Spokane.

stealer just called brake is inOo. Tomorrow I will go to see how much I will pay for it. I was supposed to get that 299. 00 deal hope to reach a compromise.

Task, if you paid for it up front don't let them hit you with the price increase. Original deal was $840- 500 =$340!! Maybe mine's getting close!!

Thats where I think they got me,I filled out the form when I bought the truck,But the stealer did not want any money at the time. :(

Task, that sucks, but hey my stealer just called me and mine made it in!!!!!Oo. Oo. Going to pick iy up after work now and schedule an appointment to install it. This way they won't lose it in the meantime. Total cost- $645 including installation:D ;:p

My Jacobs e-brake finally made it in today. It will be installed on Monday. It sure looks well built and the vacuum pump is nothing like the one I had on my 86 Powerless Stroke, this guy looks like it was made for a locomotive (a small locomotive). I had the Jacobs e-brake on my 98. 5 and I will feel much better towing with it :D :D .

Got mine installed yesterday, don't like the delay, but will get used to it. Braking seems to be about the same as my Pac and BD remote. Tell more after I tow with it. Dlr. stuck to the 299. 00 + 50. 00 install. Got to change that muffler tho, sounds like a vacuum sweeper with it on idling.

I have the Jacobs on order but have been going back and fourth in my mind about the BD brake. I don't like the idea of having to let the engine RPM build to 2900 for max braking when the BD will do the same thing at 2200 RPM. It seems 2200 RPM would be much more comfortable than letting the engine run all the way up to 2900 RPM. I know if I select the BD the warranty is out the window. I sure wish I could get some comments on this from those who have the BD as well as those with the Jacobs.

Another thing I like about the BD is the air compressor. Will this compressor put out enough air to inflate the truck tires in a reasonable length of time?
