Well, I was finally able to get the enclosed gooseneck race car trailer I wanted. After the first long tow I decided that it would add a factor of safety if I were to install an exhaust brake. I normally work on all my race cars, so the install didn't look too bad. However, work is keeping me really busy, so I thought I would just take it to Cummins and let them do the work. The service department at my local Cummins branch didn't have any pricing for installation in the "old trucks", and didn't even offer to look it up and call me! So, I thought I would install it myself. I know I need to change out the exhaust valve springs, but is there anything else considered major? Can I rent an on-head valve spring compressor? I have one for a straight six Datsun, but I don't think it will work on the Cummins. I figured installation time would be about a day or two.
