Has anyone had a (good or bad) experience installing a Pacbrake PBXR on their 2005 TD with a 48RE ? I'm told I need a ECM bypass & a ATS Co-Pilot to make TC lockup happen. Will the stock valve body & converter be adequate while towing with a 23,000 lb GCWR (truck & trailer). Who offers the best price ? Any reliability problems so far ? Anyone in the Buffalo, NY doing installations ? Appreciate your help.

I know that its probably just a dealership ploy, but my friends is an inventory manager at a Vegas dealership, and he is saying that anything other than mopar (restickered jake brake) Will void your warrenty, if it gets a stuck valve the the exhaust that causes damage. Plus they are all about the same price if you shop around, so I would go with a jake brake (mopar)

Go to www.jakebrake.com Click on light trucks on the right & it'll take you to a page just for Dodge Cummins to learn all about it. Support tab will get you to illustrated PDF Parts & Installation manuals. Both Cummins & Mopar parts numbers are used through out the site.

The PRXB is not support By Pac to install on a stock 48re,the standard brake is,The differences from Std/and PRXB is about 17/20% stopping Power. The PRXB is about 30% quicker for warm ups. The wiring for the co-Pilot and all the feature you would like gets somewhat involved. The easy way to wire for warm ups is Co-Pilot/Commander. after truck starts just turn of Co/Com and the Brake will engage. We install a pedal switch/and a ON/OFF switch/and a warm up switch. with all CO/Com installs. Most customers have mentioned the warm up switch is awesome, this way when the switch is on once you touch the pedal the Brake Dis-engages and re-engages when you let off. When truck is warm just turn off the warm up switch and Brake will operate Normally.

I checked with Pacbrake today & they do recommend the PRXB exhaust brake on a stock 2005 48RE provided it's used along with a ATS co-pilot. Any questions contact Trevor @ Pacbrake 1-800-663-0096. Thanks for your response to my inquiry.
