So they put an ecm in it and flashed it didn't fix the problem now they ordered a turbo that's like 6000 dollars in parts so fare with out labor good thing for a warranty. The area rep has been involved from the beginning let's see what happens.

Crap. We are in for it when the warranty runs out.

That's why we bought the 8 year/ 120K extended warranty from FCA. second warranty I have ever bought. First one was for our first VCR player, which never broke. SNOKING

I bought the 7 year/70,000 mile Max Care. I was concerned about several things that pushed me to buy it. Back up cam in the tailgate..... My wife slams that tailgate way too hard. It's not like the trucks built in the '70's where you really had to slam them.
She doesn't look too strong unless she's slamming the tailgate or pulling the covers to her side of the bed. Lol

Also, the entire emissions system can cost between $5000-$8000 to replace.

I hear the max care doesn't cover the DPF, though. I think just the federal emissions warrantee which is 5 or 6 years? Or 75,000 miles?

I think it cost me $1700-1800. When I look at what could go wrong, I think I made the right choice. Have already used the free rental car for a recall because they couldn't get it in right away and had to leave it a couple of days for multiple recalls to be fixed in one visit.

I think these trucks should be fine in the long run. The Cummins engine is probably the most reliable diesel out there. I work on international max force Gm duramax international with Cummins by far the Cummins has the least problems. Only problem is that the dealer smashed my oil pan and this opens up a can of worms. Now they have to replace it

I've read that the ISB 6.7 is not made as well as Cummins heavy duty hwy engines.
But the inline 6 is the best and most reliable design. And it is the best diesel in a light duty truck by far.

it is made for a "throw away " truck culture. Can be rebuilt, but might not be cost effective to do so.

Especially with technology improvements and fuel economy improvements and emissions improvements coming every decade.

They are using them in transit buses hybrid transit buses in mass for the last year or towo and they have been holding up fine. And they take a beating

You won't get any argument from me on that. Do they use a completely different transmission that's not available in trucks for those hybrid buses?

They would use G56, except no new bus drivers or firemen know how to drive a standard transmission. Like short(now the standard bed) vs long beds, we will soon consider the automatic as the standard transmission and the manual as the exception. OH wait! we already do that? SNOKING

They might make the 68RFE standard. Or whatever replaces the 68RFE. But then they would have to charge more for the G56 upgrade. They do better at the bank charging for 68RFE upgrades to the standard G56. But it doesn't make business sense to do that

Cummingsaisin67,

If you don't mind me asking-what is your driving style? Do you make a lot of short trips? I hear and read that every once in a while is good to open the truck up. Staying within the confines of the law (of course) but holding wide open throttle on the highway just to clean things out.
