So it appears as though all 13+ came with the ammonia sensor, it's a matter of wether or not TSB 18-088-15 was performed.

Copied from your link -

If ammonia sensor and module are not present, Service Bulletin (TSB) 18-088-15 was previously completed on this vehicle.

The service tech didn’t know anything about the amonia sensor or what I was talking about. Is this sensor external to where I can visually check to see if it’s there or not? When I mentioned TSB he was clueless.

Some trucks may not have the sensor because the scr cat could have been replaced prior to the recall.I replaced many on 25 and3500's before the recall was issued.I am sure with how many I did along with other techs around the country raised a flag.

This time of the year I experience my truck throwing codes also. I was given a bottle of additive to try by a mechanic I know and to my surprise I have never thrown a code again I don't know if this will work for you but it is certainly worth a try the mechanic told me it makes the fuel burn hotter which eliminates much of the soot and so forth also keeping the sensors cleaner give it a try it's a cheap fix. Its called " Penray". Its available on amazon or some auto parts stores. Good luck!

Did you only use it once? And which penray is it? Just curious

I use it fairly regularly as an additive. I use the winter type to winterize the fuel and lubricity for the pump. Hope this helps you.

mine used to come on a lot- finally would not clean when at 100% even after driving 45 minutes at 75mph plus-dealer gave me new dpf filter and my truck has never had the regen display pop up again

Ok, for the last two weeks I’ve been having issues again with this message popping up. I’ve come to realize that I only have this issue when it gets cold out. From last spring when it warmed up to two weeks ago right before it cooled off, not once did this message show up. Now, when it’s around 20 degrees and colder, this message shows up every time I start the truck, and I mean every time. I start the truck in the morning and take off. Within a mile, the message comes on. I drive the truck to where I’m going and the regen completes at 70% before I get there. Or, I can drive the rest of the day without turning the truck off without any problems. I experimented with this for the last two weeks. When the regen completes, I immediately pulled over and shut the truck off. Start the truck up and the 100% full message comes on and goes thru the regen process again. The truck will do this over and over again. Any one have any ideas what’s going on?

I agree with Wayne M, Either plugged differential pressure lines or a defective differential pressure sensor. I don't think it's the filter or it would stay on. Also, the sensor could just be too sensitive and needs replacement

Little update on the truck. I did blow the lines out that Wayne suggested. It could have possibly helped, but I really don’t know. The truck still regened every time you started it and I now had 7-8 different codes. Last Monday coming home from work the truck regened for two hours. I was getting 9 miles to the gallon and the truck wasn’t running right. I contacted Todd at TCDiesel to set up an appointment for a stationary desoot. Drove to Blaine on Thursday and spent the day with Todd while he did his magic. This is where the anger started to set in. It was pretty obvious the dealer has been lying to us about doing the lastest updates on my truck. I had the truck at the dealer about three months ago for this ongoing problem and they told me they’ve installed all the latest updates and ran a few tests and everything is normal. Well, what can you do other than believe them? I don’t have Witech to check and see if they’re lying, but Todd does. As soon as Todd hooked up to my truck and it showed my programming was from ‘15 it wasn’t hard to figure out where the problem was. Todd cleared all the codes, installed the lastest updates and ran the desoot a couple times. When I left Todd’s I drove 3 hours home. That was the first time in over two years that I didn’t have an engine light on. I don’t want to jinx it, but I’ve got about 500 miles on since and still no lights, codes or regens.

Tramp, I feel your pain. I drove over 2 and a half hours round trip twice to get the SCR and airbag recall done thinking I was at least taking it to a competent dealer. They may be competent but they lied to me. I won't be back.
We need more honest and reputable people like Todd out there. At this point, I'd pay a premium just knowing things were done and done correctly.

Tramplineman, I hope it continues, All My experience tells Me you're good and When You left all was Normal..When You desoot these systems it takes 2-3 Times to clean them out , Tramplineman Although the 3rd time should normal and good I was Not satisfied , Its must smell like bleach NOT the soot stink, when it smells like bleach the system is clean.. Dealers just don't get paid to spend Hrs properly flashing and desooting ... they would rather charger You $4000.00+ to R/R the SCR and update.. You just cannot get the system clean By active Regens In many cases Couple that with parcels updates just compounds problems. In addition keep the Map sensor clean.

I have a friend that is a parts/service director at a duel franchise dealer,Ford and Ram.All the techs prefer working on Fords because the warranty time paid is so much more(fair).I was fortunate my dealer had an excellent warranty administer that knew how to get techs paid as long as all the documentation was correct.Untill all dealers train all the staff how things should be done these sad stories will continue. The dealer I retired from has gone through 5 service managers since I left a year ago.So Sad.

When I talk updates, I mean Update ALL communications. This includes form Radio to PTS Module.. See in the picture all communications are inner linked. Sometimes in order to get the system to behave for certain changes the Vehicle Must be set to rest of World then changed back to USA. In the Picture the lighting bolts signify update available. The blue Means NO codes, the Yelow Mean DTC(s) present .... you must get all module blue before update, Tramplineman found out it took us 5 times to get the relearn on the ABS to take...It was because we did NOT drive above 30MPH for several miles then re-set/learn the ABS Module....ugh..... No/most dealers are NOT going to by out the time for this.

Yep...its sad that the dealer system is so misleading. and the techs get all the blame.

Unfortunately it doesn't much matter who is to blame, when bad experiences are repeated like this it drives people away. My only dealership experiences prior to this truck were at a Ford dealership and it's been stellar so I really didn't hesitate buying a new(er) truck. I only hope I didn't make a bad decision in the long term because there's no way I'll be able to keep this one on the road without support from one.

JR... knowledge is a big Part of ownership...If the dealership is Stumble By your Knowledge shake the dust of your feet and find one that will listen...I'm very fortunate to Nick X for over 15 Years He is the GM in Charge of the entire Service at Coon Rapids Chrysler (All) Very knowledgeable person We share info form time to time !!!!!! and he has sent owners My way when He knows his hands are tied. There are Other shops that have spent the $6-8K on WItech, Plus it has to be in the hands of someone that knows the system to navigate correctly .. I no longer have Store Front sold all My Stores was tried of the walk in BS. Tramplineman called Actually his wife made the appointment (yes) at My convenient Time...., He arrived spent the next 5 Hrs in My driveway (We did go to Wendy's) and We had to pick Up Blaine and He was able to see Bio-clean Blaine Shop ... Yes his Name is Blaine at Blaine shop. JR My experience with the Blue oval in most cases all been bad....With the Cummins you have support form additional resources that the Blue Oval control with the Ford Powerplant 2010 to current.. IMO in long term ownership the Cummins will pay benefits that will never be available with the Blue Oval.

Tramplineman, I'm glad you got straightened out, and lucky for TC to have the resources to do it! It's very rare to have dealer ability and permissions, and someone who is able to see a job through.
I've been on here long enough to know that it's policy not to poo poo our dealers. I have to say that most all dealers, and their "techs" have been backed into a "technology" corner. Unless a vehicle has a pattern issue, or a cut n dry or recall procedure, the vehicle owner is lost. Most "thinking mechanics" have aged out, or have their hands tied when sorting out a vehicle. The owner suffers, the dealer(and further up) get miffed.
I am like TC. Most guys hate government workers like me, but in the long run, I think I'm saving tax dollars because I'm (and 'most' of my brothers) are able to settle down, and dope out these situations. We don't use a real lot of parts, mostly us learning and getting the vehicle to jump through hoops, like TC did for Tramp. It's a great feeling for both parties!

Merry Christmas to all!
