Exhaust note...?

Just got my DD 4" system installed yesterday and it's making a funny noise. It sounds like I got "crickets" in there. It's not a "chirp... chirp... chirp", it's one long continuous, high pitched, "chiiiiirrrrrrp. " It made me kick the exhaust tip cause' it sounded loose. Sounds like if a fin were rubbing the housing in the turbo (which it shouldn't be, but that's kinda like the noise metal to metal). I still have the low "big rig" rumble, but the "crickets" are singing right along with it (both at idle and driving). Also, I hear the turbo whistle now (which I didn't hardly at all before), is this normal? Any ideas?

I just had my DD 4 inch installed and mine does not chirp. It does make the turbo much louder and it does rumble..... got to love the rumble. You should hear it at 2500 rpm and 35 lbs of boost... it is absolutly music to my ears. I have no idea what the crickets could be... maybe a loose clamp on a hanger rubbing?? I would think if it was the turbo it would have blown up right away. I think I would crawl under the truck and check it all out. Then take it back to the shop and let them listen to it, maybe they could help. Good luck and rumble on... .

Maybe its just the turbo whistling and your not used to hearing it with that exhaust system. That turbo does sound pretty mean at 2500rpm with open pipes at about 35psi!

I also just installed a DD4" system,mine also made a funy noise. I removed the round washers that came with there hangers,also had a muff shop tack weld everything up and add a 5" tip and the sound went away,sounds great at 2500+. #ad
