Exhaust pipe rusted off

The intermediate pipe from the down pipe rusted off right at the clamp. Cut a piece to replace it and cannot get the pipe out of the expanded joint/adapter on muffler??Dont need to do entire system and way to loud to run with no pipe at all... . trying to get it out any ideas?
