Exhaust Upgrade / K&N Filter benefits

I know that these items have been discussed before in conjunction with other mods but I am interested in getting any feedback on Exhaust Upgrades and the K&N Air Filters specifically to the 24V Engine. What are the true benefits (i. e. MPG's and Torque)? Thanks in advance,

Hello David,
JRE has tested this combo,
Here are the results.
Stock 2. 9" VS. JRE 4"
Boost 18. 5 K&N 19 21
EGT 1150 1075
Top MPH 63 mph 66 mph
Backpressure 2 PSI 0 PSI
time to full boost, 3. 2 sec. 2. 5sec.
Distance to top speed, . 6 mi. . 4 mi.
Turbo cool down 1. 5 min. 30 sec.
These tests were run on a very steep, very long hill, Hence the top speed.
Test vehicle 98 24 valve auto, 3500 Quad cab 4x4 SLT 3. 54 gears.
The 3 mph increase shows approximately 30 hp.
Drivability is much improved,
MPG has increased as much as 1 mpg.
