Sorry for the delaly in the update. Engine is back together for a week or so but because of etest, licensing, issues etc... . was not put to work.
After getting clean etest bill etc I suggested to my son that it might not be a bad idea if I drove the truck for a few hundred miles to make sure everything is okay and no issues before it goes back to work.
Well today, I picked it up. Engine smooth, NO WEIRD NOISES (yippee). I drove it approx 40 miles on way home when it gave one hiccup... ... ... . the kind where you say to yourself, am I imagining things, or did engine just miss, or did I hit bump etc. Listening closely, no more hiccup for another 2-3 miles when I stop at intersection. Engine running smoothly right to point of dead stop at light where engine does in fact stop dead!! NO sputter, just off like key off.
Get towed out of major intersection into fuel station lot across the intersection. Tank reading 1/2 full. Check for any fuses blown... ... . all good. Drain fuel cannister... ..... very little fuel. Remove canister lid and cycle key... ... ... no fuel being pumped from in tank pump. Add 5 gal to tank to be sure it has fuel..... guage goes up, but no pump.
On the hook back to the shop. It would appear that the intank lift pump has decided now would be a good time to die... ... ... This truck must have a black cloud following it .
Will post up when this diagnosis and repair has been completed.
At least it didn't have a trailer behind it yet... ... .
The story that dosent want to end!
