How much should I worry about this truck, as described in signature?

7yr/100K warranty worthwhile? That's about 2-3 years for me.

Engine carries it's own 100K warranty.

3yr/36,000 basic warranty enough?

Hi Doc,been reading all your postings, the truck sounds great,If your not going to use the truck for anything hardcore stick to the original warrenty, hell the truck alone cost alot of money. If you are serious with the work you do with your truck get the extended warrenty.

Hi Doc,

I'm retired from 30 years in the heavy truck and construction equipment buisness. I sold all the Extended Warranty Policies I could to the customer--good markup and great commission!!

For myself, I don't buy 'em. I've had 2 Dodge Cummins trucks and the 3rd one is on the way. I work them good pulling a heavy 5th wheel trailer and haven't needed the extended warranty. Besides the miles run out before the time does. Save your money for some "goodies" for your truck.

Being on a "fixed" income situation, I bought the extened and if you get a goodd deal from the dealer, its cheap insurance for that 68k problem that you aint had yet. My experiences have been 50/50 with them (Dakota blew eng and extended paid -50$ ded). The 98 ply traded too soon but got back part of cost. The 90 caaravan had 5 trans replace by 125k- all under the warranty.

I expect to run out of miles before years on this one, but when I look at the total package I got for the price (all dealer adds and my extras) I figure the 35k$ check I wrote (from loan) was a good deal for a list of almost 39. 5k ifn I bought everything afterwards. Dealer threw in about 400$'s of addons I'm not even considering in this cost. Yes, I paid almost 1k$'s for the "wrap-around" but I feel betta and I do buy other insurance that I'll never use (life) sooooo...

(I cannot afford to be my own warranty station on ALL of the unit but, will take responsibility for those that I do change)

Doc, When I bought my truck new in 94, I had to pick from the 3/36 Bumper-to-Bumper or the 7/100. The 7/100 didn`t cost extra.

I would go with the 7/100K (if its not an extra cost). Its not a bumper to bumper warranty, but all the expensive drivetrain parts are covered, and there related seals ect. Fluid leaks are ANNOYING, caused by the failure of a $2 gasket!

You guys are fortunate, being able to buy a truck that has the "bugs" worked out of it. (note: I`m talking about the truck, not the Cummins engine. ) I jumped at the "new" Dodge bodystyle released in the fall of 93. I read they made 200 upgrades and changes since 94.

Even though I made the mistake of "buying a new model, the first year" I DON`T REGRET IT #ad
