Well, my wife and I are going to drop the cash on the dealer's desk tomorrow for a new 1500 Ecodiesel. the dealer wants to sell us an Extended Service Warranty from First Extended Service Corp. to extend the full vehicle warranty to 7year/100,000 mi. (Engine/Drivetrain factory warranted to 5yr./100K).
Anybody had any experience with this company? Probably not on the Ecodiesels, they are too new- but what about other vehicles?

Any comments appreciated.

I would stick with a factory service contract if I were to buy one

Aftermarket companies in the warranty business make money by denying claims, not honoring them. Fiat/Chrysler backing up their own products is a different story. I used the factory extended 7 year/100k warranty on my 2005 and it definitely paid for itself with the front end problems and a few other things.

Call your Insurance company and see if they offer ext warr. then Use that Price against Dealer .and get them to change it too a dodge Warr.

OK! That's what I wanted to Know.
Next Question, does Fiat/Chrysler offer an extended warranty program? I asked about a factory program and the salesman sort of implied that they (The Corporation) didn't offer one.
I was on Ram.com last night looking and couldn't find any mention of warranties beyond the 5yr./100K powertrain & the 3yr./36K that comes with the new truck.

What is the deductible?
Do they offer vanishing deductibles?
Do you perform your own service? This could be a problem if you do.
Always ask for more. 0% financing etc.etc.
I posted a bunch of stuff on another thread.
Do a search, my brother sells this stuff, there is a LOT to cover & my memory isnt what it used to be.

Yes they do. At least they did when I purchased my 2010. I believe it is called Mopar Vehicle Protection Plan. They have several levels of plans available. The one that essentially extends your 3/36 bumper to bumper is called Max Care if my memory serves me right.

I had one service done on that plan which included new front hub bearings and sway bar end links. No issue using the coverage.

If your Ram/Dodge dealer does not offer you the factory warranty.

Find another dealer.

Walk away as fast as you can!

I worked as a service advisor for a dealer, many years ago, and when a customer came in with a problem the computer showed me their factory warranty on the screen.

When they came in with aftermarket warranty we would have to get them to agree to pay for diagnostic.

After we told the customer what was wrong they would have to call their warranty company and get them to approve it.

What a pain! Especially when the first words out of their mouth was "I have a warranty that covers everything so fix it."

With my factory warranty I get first day rental car.

I take it to the dealer they call the rental car company (some dealers have rentals on site) I get a car, leave and they call me when my vehicle is ready. I pick up my repaired truck, leave rental at dealer and dealer calls rental co to pick up their car.

On the Ram with 6.7 cummins you can get up to 8 year 120k warranty, do a search there are several forums on this.

Hope this helps

First, let me say thanks to everyone who responded to my post.
I was able to find the Mopar Extended Warranty website and that is how I'm going to go. Actually looks like it will be cheaper than the "Outside Company".
And, yes, we did get our truck today. 100 mile drive home, across the flatland, and up & over some small mountain ridges. Very pleasant drive, very impressive truck!
More later, as we acclimatize to and learn more about the new truck.
