Should I purchase an extended warranty RIGHT FROM DC for my truck?

I have 31,000 and already had trouble with valve body in transmission.

I am worried--

what is the going price?

any thoughts on would be appreciated

Depends

do you work on your truck or do you hire it all out???

I do all my own work and could care less about the warenty, if I could get some $$$ for it I would

They had a chance to warentee a lift pump once but I couldnt get a day off to get it done so I put a Cummins pump in after work one night.

Seems like once the dealer gets hold of your truck a vicious cycle starts, every time they fix something they break something else in the process. If you have a good dealer and relationship with him and don't do your own work go for the warranty.

When I bought my '98 used from a local couple in '00, they had a Chrysler extended warranty that transferred to me for $50. Best $50 I've spent on the truck. I figure it's saved me nearly $1000 in replaced axle seals, pinion seal, electric seat motor, electric window mechanism, etc. Yeah, I could do these myself, but the parts alone would have been half that, and if I'm going to take the time to work on the truck I want to be BOMBing it, not repairing failed parts.

I would suggest you look into after-market warranties. Check into Warranty Gold. They have a web site. Get one that doesn't list what they cover, but lists just the few things they don't cover (much shorter list).

Call Linda at Warranty Gold 800-580-9889. She takes care of the TDR group discount. I picked the Diamond plan which covers everything except oil, Brake Pads etc. I also elected for the zero deductible and with one month left on the factory warranty I believe it cost approx. 1500. 00. They also offer installment payments with 0% interest and a certain portion as down payment. You can take the vehicle to any certified mechanic even if there is something you do not feel is right (ie. Leaky valve cover gaskets etc. ). Linda explained to me that they would rather pay for something small rather than let the problem grow into something much larger. I also elected to go with the 7 Year 100,000 mile plan. I picked this up from a previous post and mentioned his name and they said that he would receive a 50. 00 check. I did not ever verify that that ever happened.

I had Warranty Gold on a '98 Jeep Grand Cherokee. They paid for a rear axle no questions asked. That paid for the warranty. When I sold the Jeep, the new owner was able to transfer the warranty for $50. It added some resale value to the vehicle.
