This kit involves removing the rear freeze plug from the block and bolting a plate over it (shown in picture) and running a 5/8 ID coolant hose to the heater core return line.

Install the rear plate(8) marked & o ring(9) in the diagram, then using heater hose I plumbed the hose into the heater core return line (the hose that leads down towards the oil filter). You will also need a 90 degree fitting and a plug to cap the other port.

This will eliminate the possibility of blowing the rear freeze plug and also help coolant flow along cylinder #6. The rear freeze plug is under a LOT of pressure. . I managed to blow 3. 5 gallons of coolant out this port when the hose blew off.

On some trucks, you may need to grind the plate to allow it to clear the bell housing.

You can do this with the cylinder head off.
It isn't fun, but is definitely do-able!

Everything is included in this kit except for the hose and hose clamps.

The following Cummins part numbers are included:
1x 3925226 Connection/Water Transfer
1x 3910530 O Ring
1x 3910677 Coupling, Hose Elbow
1x 3008468 Pipe Plug
2x 3910495 Hex Flange Head Cap Screw

The 03 and up block has a 3 bolt pattern on the back unlike the 2 bolt one on the 02 and earlier blocks. I already have one of the Cummins adapters, like the one in the bottom picture. Cummins uses that when the engine has a coolant cooled air compressor, like in a Fleightliner for example. I was trying to find a 3rd gen version of it. As far as I can see Cummins doesn't make one. I could use the one in the top left picture. http://www.puredieselpower.com/cata....html?osCsid=7bab94d8ef41b6e8d520b313cdb37353

Pure diesel lists a 3rd generation mode. Looking at there kit I think they use a 5/8 " line and no regulator. It is a lot cheaper than other kits. Would be interesting to hear frm someone how has one to find out about the warm up time.

You could buy that bolt in freeze plug in the top pic then drill and tap it for a 90* hose fitting like on the bottom 02 earlier set up.
