GM and Allison question

My how you Big Oil types have danced around the price difference I provided, I guess when the FACTS are presented showing Big Oil is raping the public your are reduced to trying to convince everyone that oil is like precious medals, or did you mean metals?

We wont go into the barrol thing but I suspect you mean Barrel.

Then again I could be wrong and you might just be a big John F. Kerry supporter and like Kerry think that his medals are precious even if Kerry lied to get some of them.

Oh,, I did typo really bad on that one. Last time I post and talk on the phone at the same time,, LOL...

Yes, Barrel, and metals... . You wouldn't like me if I supported Kerry, or Bush. . So does it really matter?

I'm not a fan of how the prices of gas are swinging, but it's the swing of supply and demand. We are going to get ****** at gas prices and lower demand... then prices lower... Back and Forth. . It just sucks we are at a high part...

On August 8, for example, the price of gas in the US, without taxes, would be $2. 17, instead of $2. 56; in Britain, it would be $1. 97, instead of $6. 06.

Dowg and his buddies in Big Oil are just ripping off America,

America = 2. 17 a gallon with out taxes.

Britain = 1. 97 a gallon with out taxes.

But hey Dowg and his buddies in Big Oil are living it up high on the hog while a lot of Americans are now reduced to selling off their personal items just to put fuel in the tank so they can go to work and put hot dogs and beans on the table next week for the kids.

Enjoy it now, your time is about over, this time the greed of Big Oil is going to result in regulations on them and you will be reduced to living just like the rest of America.
So now DOWD is responsible for taxes too!!!! You really are dense huh? Back to special ed for you! :-laf

Too bad all these "Getting screwed by big oil" threads can't be combined into one.

I heard today there's talk of the gov't taxing big oil hard. Who do you think will pay for that? Here's a hint... US! The biggest solutions are:

1. One kind of gas. Everywhere. Period.

2. Drill in ANWAR. Drill off the coasts. Mine the vast amounts of coal in this country. Get the oil. If word came that the big oil companies here were allowed to drill for more oil, the price from the Middle East would drop on the spot.

3. Build more refineries.

4. Put windmills of the coast of Ted Kennedy's property, and in California so wind can produce some of the power that oil does now.

5. Lower the flippin' taxes on fuel. Some places it's more than . 60 per gallon!

We also need to understand the difference between profit and profit margin, profit and earnings, etc. I'm not sure that I am 100% sure of my understanding, so I will be looking it up soon.

Once again, to be politically correct and not ruin anyone's day, those are MHO's. :-laf :D Have a nice day!

Why aren't we ticked at government. .

They are taking more money than the seller makes...

Yah Dowg,, What's the deal man? Stop making money so I my neighbor doesn't have to drink all night worrying about how he is going to pay for fuel... .

The United Kingdom is a net exporter or crude oil, the United States isn't. The United Kingdom has a refining capacity of 1. 8 million barrels a day while they only consume 1. 86 million barrels a day... The United States doesn't and you wonder why they have a lower base price for fuel before taxes. Wouldn't be that they don't have to import millions of barrels of oil and refined products.

"Dowg and his buddies in Big Oil are just ripping off America"

John3976, I (DOWG) do not have any buddies in Big Oil (wish I did, because I could participate in the "conspiracy" and go fish'in). In fact, I have credit cards issued by Shell/Texaco (American) and Citgo (Venezuelan). The oil company I own/work for consists of 14 people living the American dream; work hard, play hard; get paid, get laid, drink beer.

Canada and Mexico and Venezuela are the #1, #2 & #3 exporters of oil to the United States. They sell much more oil to you than I do. They are, by your definition, "big oil". Give'm a call, voice your concerns about the money they make, for the risk they take.

I am not ripping off anyone. If you, or anyone else for that matter, does not like the price of my product, don't buy it. What? There is no one else to buy it from? Start your own oil company, risk your own money and produce your own oil. Want to talk about facts? You ignored the facts I presented about risk. You take no risk and complain when my risk taking feeds my family and pays my taxes. Your argument is based on socialism; that is, you believe you are entitled to some of my money, without working for it, because you say the amount of money I make make is too much and in some way, not fair.

Life is not fair. And never, ever, will be.

I make a good living because I am smart and work hard. I must assume, that because you are demanding some of my money without giving me something in return, you are either unable, or unwilling to work for it. There is no other reasonable explanation, unless of course, you condone theft. If you are unable to work, I will help you. If you are unwilling to work, get lost.

I live high on the hog? Who are you to judge me? It is my money, not yours.

The banking industry, the drug companies and the insurance folks, among others, make a higher margin of profit than I do. Which is fine by me, they provide a service, for a fee, and I decide whether to pay'em or do it myself (the start your own oil company thing). I guess because you "approve" of their profit margins by using their services, you have decided starting your business is too risky, so you won't demand they take a pay cut. Consequently, you must immediately, refuse to do business with the above mentioned companies.

What do you do for a living? It really does not matter, because based on your logic (or lack there of) somebody else gets to decide how much you get paid for what you do. And consequently, you are agreeing to take a pay cut. So, whatever you "sell" to make a living, I demand, that you sell it to me for less. And no, I will not give you anything in return. Why should I? From what you say in this forum, it's OK with you... ... ..... And that's OK, because if everybody was as smart as me, I would not get paid as much.

Apples to apples; "somebody" has decided that you make "too much money". You take a pay cut. Now. Quit "ripping off America".

You argument is naive, and quite frankly, dangerous.

You are, by definition, a hypocrite.

He said he supervises traffic homocide investigators. Guess that means he's a cop. Thus I can only assume that his unhappiness is the cost of driving to the donut shop for the free eats. That's why he wants Rman to walk - because he can't anymore. :-laf

We can complain or realize that it will never get better and be happy and accept that whatever will be will be. Don't expect our politicians to fix it they can't or wont fix anything. If they could the illegal IRS would have been fixed long ago, abolished, or never started in the first place.

No no no... . Thats old school. Todays cops stop by the local baggle and expresso joint... nothing like a cop on caffine

:-laf :-laf :-laf

DOWG; I agree with -almost- everything you said.

A few problems though -- mostly around the idea of why prices are high.

Prices are high because:

1) No new refineries in the US for over 30 years. (Thank you Liberals)

2) No significant drilling on US soil; ANWAR; etc. (Thank you Liberals)

Do we need to investigate alternative fuels, limit emissions, etc? Heck yes. But the stupid prevention of refinement and exploration by liberal legal elitists is the number one problem. And holy cow... on HOW MANY LEVELS! How many significant social and economic problems can be traced to lawyers? ROFL. Lawyers are the scum of the earth not oil companies.

However; people are mad about these oil execs because they are NOT the FOUNDERS or INVENTORS of these companies. They're johnny-come-latelys screwing every dime out of companies they are in for a very short period of time -- gutting the profits and coffers so the workers with 40 years in those companies are left with nothing in 10 years. The scumbag good for nothing worthless moron upper executives take it all in the 2 or 3 years they are there.

If you are working your own company you founded then you deserve every dime even if it's one heck of a lot of dimes. If you show up and expect to rape someone else's company in a few years time leaving the long term workers nothing (the current oil execs and almost every upper exec in every company in the US) then I hope you die a painful slow death in your piles of cash.

Unfair shot

NPS, that's an unfair shot at cops, of which I am one (now retired though). John3969 or whatever his name is is an idiot who is pulling DOWG's chain (and yours too). Leave 'im alone so he can babble by himself.

I agree and I apologize to all the cops out there. After all my son wants to become one in a couple years when he turns 21 - can't wait for the donut jokes to start flying around the dinner table.

Besides - John's not a real cop anyway. :-laf
