yeah, you're right. i'm looking to get another truck out of college so as long as the auto doesn't go by then, then good. i have been debating whether to get the Transgo shift kit, or even a fully modded valve body. sure, they'll help, but there's still limitations.
my internal clutches aren't slipping, it's the lockup clutch that is (well, technically it could be OD clutch pack, but i doubt it due to a number of reasons).
honestly, i'm extremely surprised that my transmission has held up to the power that i've put through it (i've owned the truck since 36k miles and worked my way up after 45k on hp). 82k currently on the truck.
a converter and valve body combo would probably hurt worse. you can still only go so high with line pressure (converter apply pressure is much higher though). it's that low down torque that'll rip apart the clutch packs. no matter how much more fuel i add, i cannot get any more torque through the transmission.
plus, if your stock converter starts shuddering (mine doesn't), then it'll shudder its way down the transmission into the clutch packs.
all in all, i'm pretty lucky, but i will be getting a DTT in the future when money permits.
