First, an apology for lurking on this site for a few months without ponying up the bucks to support it. That being rectified, I would like to thank all of you for the tremendous knowledge that I've gained while checking this site out.

Now for the question: BOMBing mission to begin soon, and after installing guages, I was wondering which would be the way to go, an EZ or 275's first. I've heard that the 275's, along with added power, can actually improve MPG's, but I was wondering if they'd be all that benificial without the advanced timing of the box and boost from a module, not to mention some enhanced air filter like a K&N or Psychotty to get a more complete fuel burn and control EGTs.

Just so you know, this is not a work truck, but I do occasionally tow a 25' boat that weighs about 8K. Basically, I bought the truck because I wanted the baddest toy on or off the street, and I want it to run up to its capabilities.

Thanks for all your help and knowledge, and I'm sorry if I'm a bit long-winded.

Chris

First off I have to say Welcome to the TDR...

Second... go with the EZ. Being that your truck is still new (I see in your sig that you have a 2k) I would not put in injectors just yet in case you need to have any warranty work done. Put some miles on the truck and break her in some more.

Just as a precaution, if you need to take your truck to your dealer, the EZ unplugs in seconds. Where as the injectors are somewhat of a permanent add on. As you will learn on the TDR, Your warranty is only as good as your dealer. They may not care about the injectors, but now need to jump the gun just yet. You will see, the EZ is a very nice addition.

Thought I'd mention that Diesel Dynamics ( http://www.dieseldynamics.com ) lists "stealth" injectors. How sharp a dealer mechanic would have to be to detect them, I'm not sure. Might want to talk to Lawrence at DD.

Hi ReggieRam,
Welcome aboard to the 24hr Cruise bar for a drink of "Bombing". I have the 'EZ' on my work truck and it's a first rate add on!
I have DD2 injectors on the way from Joe Donnelly and I've called Bill K. for a valve body(but he was closed).
I would also recommend the'EZ' first. I've got it down to less than a minute to install the box and about 2 minutes for the boost elbow. (Had my truck to the dealer for an oil pressure sensor #ad

The EZ for simplicity sakes.

However, you might think about this. Hooking an EZ, or EDGE or any other fuel box up to your truck with stock injectors is like hooking a fire truck water pump up to your garden hose. Only so much liquid is going to flow through a small hole. Sooner or later you get to a point where you stop gaining any real power until you change injectors.

The EZ box will not be too much. Its a breeze to hook up and simple to take off if you want. It also helps with the timing, which helps your fuel consumption lower. Just remember that garden hose thing. If you start putting the juice to it, you will have to get a bigger hose to deliver it all. Hope this helps.

I talked a good friend of mine into a EZ a month ago, he luv it but three weeks later he also got DD2s from the edge and I installed them the day I put my clutch in. Beware that once you get started down the bombing path it's hard to stop!!!!! #ad

I don't believe for a second that this will be my first mod. As I've read a thousand times on here, BOMBing is an addiction that there is no cure for. I'm preparing myself for the worst (or best), but I was just looking for a place to start. I keep telling myself that I'l just do a couple of things, but I know that I'll turn into a hp junkie like most of y'all on here.

Thanks for the advice, and I already talked to Lawrence @ DD today about the True Torque box, since the discount sounded like a good deal. I'll probably get sucked in and get injectors too. C'est la vie.

Go ahead and stick that needle in all the way, you won't get hooked. Everybody is doing it.

Seriously, the DD TTPM is a perfect start. The injectors work with it in a system. Be prepared that you may need a stronger clutch.

Ask yourself what you want the truck to do.
The EZ is a great add-on, and when combined with injectors make a great match. But beware, that both together will cause your transmission to slip. If doing occasional towing of 8K, you will slip the lockup with both, easily.
I'd say try the EZ, heck it has a 60 day guarantee.

PUFF, you have the void stickers, take a look on the VP44. No need to worry, the EZ plugs into the map sensor and test plug. The EZ does not go near the void stickers.

Scott, I just checked Edge's web page and they state: "Simply plug the Power Edge connectors into the ECM Data Link connection and MAP sensor. "

I think I have a void sticker on the ECM connection. #ad

Puff, the ECM connector should be down by the power steering pump, it is on mine. It is a flat triple plug with a dummy plug in it to keep it clean.

PUFF, there were no VOID decals on my "ECM Data link" plug(sorry for calling it a test plug). As Sam stated, there's a dummy plug attached to same that you have to remove and it's located by the P. S. pump. I had to really look for mine, it was well hidden (at least to my then virgin BOMBing eyes).

Thanks for the feedback. There is a void sticker on a connection to an electronic box that is attached to the side of the engine block. I thought that was the one you guys were talking about.

This is good.
