Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Synthetic Fluids?

Just went from a Mach 3 to a Mach 4 F-1 injector and now have developed a really bad shutter/surge with comp box on in any position about a little more than half way to top end power. With (hot flash) comp box off the condition dosen't exist. Just wondering if anyone else experiences that same condition, The injectors were new, and perform really well, but it almost shakes the truck apart, double checked all connections and all are good

the more fuel you put into the engine, the more air you need to give it. cold air induction and the correct turbo combo is crittical for the correct mixture

My friend and I have a 12 valve that we have hade to upgrade more than once, but its woth it for almost 500 h. p. on#2 diesel and being an everyday driver, put some air in that engine.

If you notice from the signature, he is running Dodgezilla/HT3B twins... Plenty of air there... :)

JWick, does the shutter happen at any specific RPM, or is it completely dependent on throttle position?

My truck does the same thing and I have been batteling it for years, I have cleaned all of the grounds swapped Edge Comp boxes change out VP 44s, added Bill K's noise filter and even in despeation gotten the Dodge garage shudder reflash, It got worst with thier flash. If I disconect the Edge or just turn it off the shudder goes away. My Shudder / Surge viberation feels like the truck is going to hop off the highway as soon as I hit 22 # s of boost thru 38 pounds when pulling a trailer or any load. It gets so bad that it will through your coffee cup out of its holder.

Help needed here Too.

I've ran two different EZ boxes, a regular Comp, and now a Drag Comp. They all have had a stumble / shuttering problem during cold weather (like ~50 degrees or lower). Its worse before the truck warms up, but its still there. I've got enough turbo for my 421hp and it still stumbles. Fuel pressure is not an issue either. As soon as the weather warms up, the problem goes away.

I have the same thing with mach 5's. From what I an told (olee Poole) this will happen. This is why at the end of a hard run you don't take you foot totally off the gas. I have had my truck two weeks ago "Vapor lock" and had to bleed three lines for it to run again. I have twins, RASP, and drag comp. I know the rough idle you speak of. .

Hope this helps.

Mike

how cold are we talking? 've has my mach 4's installed since feb. and we are now in the 30's at night with zero issues.

thanks

Bob my truck useully starts the shudder / hop / stumble as soon as I pull a hill and go over 22 pounds of boost and it gets worst as the temps drop below 50 degrees.

If it is timming perhaps the catcher can cure the problem.

Just a thought could it be a timing issue?

That is what I was going to say. Big Injectors and added timing causing the shudder.

Bob - your not seeeing it because you don't have a comp any more.

Interesting problem, I have never seen a truck do what you describe..... I have run large injectors most recently some prototype Mach 8's with no cold weather issues (temps last night were around 14*). I have seen a shudder during light throttle on a truck but it turned out to be the injection pump was failing. Almost all shudders and stubles I have worked on were attributed to the fueling box or injection pump.

I have the same problem with my truck. My EZ went south so i

bought a Van Aaken. Can not drive it with the box pluged in.

The warmer it gets the wores it get. Leveling off at any speed

is when i get it. EDM 4s and not much smoke even at wot.

Don,t sound good. ----Frank

same symptoms here too:

got worse the bigger the injectors

stronger surges mid to high mid throttle

stronger with box on de-fueling (low sublevels)

allmost... allmost disappears on 5x5

was hoping it was dirty/bad connections... . but no

My '02 HO with jammer 4's and ez does the exact same thing;shudders at mid throttle between 20 and 30psi at any outside temp. below 50 degrees. Is it only on HO injection pumps? I've also lifted and had to bleed the fuel lines, I don't think it's related. Maybe something to do with air density?

I have fought this on my truck since I have had it. I have tracked it down to the timing in the box.

I had a cold weather shudder especially tipping into the throttle at freeway speeds while climbing a hill. It did it with my old Edge EZ and does it now with my Drag Comp. It did not do it nearly as bad with the DDUFM. I was guessing that the different timing when compared to the EZ/ Comp was the issue. It has done it with DD2s, and all the EDMs. Change the box, it dissapears.

And Marco, you are gonna have my ECM to tinker with real soon!!

Update: It's right around 32 degrees today. I disconnected the ez and went for a spin. Bing! Shudder is gone! Next question; why?
