Cummins Conversion 101

1993 motor questions?

For the Furd/Cummins motor mounts, I would first contact Randy @ Reliable diesel in Mesa, Arizona. His phone number is 480-325-6262. Just spent some quality time talking to him this week about my '87 ford conversion. Very knowlegeable and pleasantly patient for us wannabe's.

I don't believe that www.fordcummins.com is going to be of any help to you at all. The only way that they would help me would have been for me to also be installing the cummins up to a Furd stick shift.

Tell Randy that Dennis said Howdy.....

Very nice Copterdoc! I'd be curious to know a little more about how much work it was to make the Dodge auto work and getting the radiator and intercooler to fit.

It was no big deal. the ford and dodge driveshaft are the same exact size. I washed the weld out on the dodge. We cut the ford shaft to length and squared it off to make sure the cut was straight. then inserted the dodge yoke into the ford driveshaft and welded it up. some of my friends are great fabricators. the transmission mount is the top half of the dodge transmission mount with the bottom cut off. then welded to the ford isolation mount. You push the crossmember back until it lines up and drill some new holes. the only tricky part is making sure the mount is the right heigth. with to two piece drive shaft you have to be careful with your alignment. as for the intercooler it fits great. you have to cut the small vertical support that runs in fron of you a/c condenser. fab a support out of flat bar, blow a couple of holes in it and set the intercooler in it with the stock iso mounts. if you want I'll get some pics. copterdoc
