I finally got in from working out of state and got my F. A. S. S system on the truck yesterday. So far I have seen 3lbs. of extra boost, a whole lot slower climb rate on my egt's I still max high as before ,but it takes longer to get there. I drove 91 miles yesterday and it only used a 1/8th tank, very much an improvement over what my previous bombs had done to my mileage(K. I. A). The pump doesn't even compare to the noise the DD's pusher pump kit made(NOISY WASN'T THE WORD) This pump is very quiet. Some of my smoke went down, only at certain driving habits, otherwise no change on my smoke. Just leaving some info for everyone on a 3rd Gen. :)

I'm interested to see how big this thing is and how exposed the unit and filters are, I can't see putting something like this on underneath the truck unprotected.

I think this is going to be my next thing to buy. It makes a lot of sense after reading some info on it. I saw it for 599. 99 not sure what site. Im sure theres better prices out there

HMMmmmm - unless there were SERIOUS problems with your STOCK system, it's sorta hard to understand WHY smoke and EGT's would be noticeably different simply by upping system pressure by several PSI - I went from a stock PSI of 16, up to as high as 26, and saw no difference in overall vehicle performance...

PSI is PSI - the Cummins sure doesn't know, or CARE where it comes from... ;)

The F. A. S. S. claims performance benefits are derived from other things besides fuel pressure... . mainly no air in fuel= cleaner burn etc.

So, do you wind up leaving the fuel filter canister in place, and just remove the filter element, or does the system allow you to unbolt the whole unit from the engine? To do this, it would have to re-locate the fuel rail and CP3 return line (that's banjo'd to the front of the filter housing).

What do you do with the stock lift pump and stock fuel supply line between the tank and pump? Do you disconnect it at the quick connector, and leave it (and the stock lift pump) hanging there?

Yes it comes with all the hardware to install it, nothing is needed, I already had DD's pusher pump kit in place so I had already had removed my stock pump from before. You could leave it if you want to. I put a piece of duck tape over the original feed line that you disconnect from the tank after blowing it out with light air pressure. I drained the original water/fuel seperator and left the unit sealed shut(all openings were plugged). The F. A. S. S system uses fleetguard spin on fuel filters. I got my kit from Ted Jannetty(Jannetty Racing 203-753-7223)Ted's a great guy and will help you. How long it took to put it on, well after several phone calls to Brad, I relocated up on the front part of the leaf spring hanger instead of the body bracket mount. This in turn raised the unit about 2 1/2" so all you actually see now is about half of the water/fuel separater valve not much at all. I like this even better than the"actual" mounting location. My truck and their truck on the install pic looked quite different. That's the reason I moved it up. Brad gave me some numbers of folks close to me that were installers, he said he really didn't know what to tell me, so that was the next best thing, Brad was as helpful as he could be, As to pressure I've got to order a gauge I haven't had one. Hope this helps guys. Any other questions give me a shout.

Well, yeah, you're correct, but leaving the injection pump on DOES seem a bit obvious... ;) :p [/B]

I'm just trying to cover all the bases for someone who may not know that much about this stuff.

I notice the FASS site now lists Fleetguard number HF6604. It's good to 3 micron. They also have this Diesel Pro fuel filtration system that looks very good! See it here. .

Anyone with the FASS, have you tried the 3-micron filter? Is there any problem with too much restriction, choking off flow to the injector pump?
