I'm starting to think the design team who created the air box designed it more for turbo noise reduction rather than air flow. Even simple mods seem to make the truck run better, but increase the turbo whistle (Which is fine with me
)
1) Pulled snorkle between box and inner fender to get rid of loud howling noise around 2000 rpm. Side effect was slightly better acceleration in 3dr-6th gears. Also slight increase in turbo noise.
2) Replaced stock air filter with AFE and drilled 1. 5" holes in bottom of airbox. Noticable increase in pulling power in 4th-6th gears with noticible increase in turbo whine.
Seems kinda silly to try and quiet a motor that sounds like a bucket of rocks bouncing around by quieting the turbo
Love to hear the Cummins sing!
