I am about to order a set of american racing outlaw II, 16X8 0mm offset, 4. 5" backspace. My stock steel wheels are 16X6. 5 with 265/75R16 on them. I can't find out what the backspace and offset on my factory rims are. A link from genos garage had the specs, but I think they are wrong. I plan on putting on new 265/75 mud tires on the new rims. Do I need to be concerned about backspace and offset? Thanks!

You will need to turn down the rear brake drum slightly so they will clear. You could have a brake shop do it or you could remove the rear wheels, start the truck, put it in gear and hold a file against the drum to file it down about 1/16".

Or, you get wheels with 4" backspacing. They will stick out some (which I don't like), but that will help them clear that wider section of the rear drums.

the whole reason for the proper backspacing is to center the load from the wheel (& tire) to be in the center of the inner & outer wheel bearings. Changing the offset, larger heaver tires will change the load on the bearings... . a more positive offset will increase the load on the outer bearing, etc.

I glad I have the factory 8" wide aluminum rims with my 265's.

Stock backspace on 8" wide aluminum wheel = 6. 375" (6-3/8")
Stock offset is +45mm as I recall

A 4. 5" backspace puts your wheels WAY out there.

Offset for 1999 and older Rams is about +30mm but 4. 5" backspace will still stick out pretty far.
