That depends on what you consider 'punishment'. My '93 w250 has 200,000 miles on it's Dana 70 with LS and I've had no problems at all. :) The trucks been off road almost every weekend, winter and summer, most of the time with a 1800 lb camper or a FULL load of firewood in it. LOTS of highway miles too with a camper and/or towing a trailer (800-5000 lbs) Not regular fluid changes either  but thats changed now. I do use it but I'm very careful not to abuse it. Hope this helps.

I have 93k on my 01, lots of higway miles, and a considerable amount of around town towing trailers between 6K and 12K. The factory LS is starting to loosen up a bit. It doesn't hook up like it used to. I will probably replace it with a Lock-Rite if they make one for that carrier. If not then I will either rebiuld the factory unit or blow the big cake on a detroit.

My limited slip never worked from day one. I even pulled the cover to see if they had screwed up and put an open carrier instead. Restack of the factory LSD was not a sucessful undertaking, as I had a spool when all done. The Detroit is working nicely now.

I already blew the snot outta one Dana 80 LS, and I think the rebuild is on the way out, too. Both times it was my fault, though... trying to do smokey burnouts. If this one goes, then I'm DEFINITELY NOT replacing it with factory parts again. Anybody build a conversion kit so that I can fit some Rockwells underneath my Ram? :D
