Somewhere in the past there was a thread about factory stereos. My daughter bought me an early Christmas present. She set me up with a local stereo shop (Eggers) and bought my a Sony GT630UI AM/FM CD player with an Aux and USB port on the faceplate. I had kicked around getting this stereo because it had green backlighting to match my dash lights and the USB/Aux on the faceplate. Then Crutchfield discontinued it and I thought I missed out. All I can say is cool. I don't have an iPod. I have a Sony MP3 player and I can plug it into either the Aux and control the player through it's own controls or plug it into the USB port where it gets charged and the stereo controls the player, albeit limited control. I just hit shuffle device and sit back and enjoy the drive. Nice improvement for my rig. Now I am thinking speakers and a small amp (not a thumper). This must be that "slippery slide" but for the inside :)

Will it work with the controls on the steering wheel? Also how many CD's will it hold? Did you have to buy an adaptor for the factory wiring?

Thanks,

Jay

I just finished my stereo audio work on my truck. i listen to country and like it loud. Spend to much money on it but it sounds great. See below for my set up. Hope this helps.

How does it fit? Do you have any pics? I am thinking about putting a DVD/Nav system in my truck but I want something that "looks like it belongs there". Not like some hack job.

I'll get some pictures up this weekend. I love the fit. It looks like it belongs there. The wiring harneses I paid extra for so there would be no mangling of the factory wiring in the unlikely event I sell the truck. It only holds one CD at a time and this particular model has you flip the faceplate down to put a CD in. I wanted it for the USB and Aux along with the green lighting.

Very cool, however, you can't just tease us with the story... we need to see pics...

My truck stereo is larger than the std DIN size and the corners have very large radius'...

I assume they make adapter plates, but would like to see your set-up please so that I have some confidence that when I do this it wont look like a hack job...

Thanks!

Louis

OMG... ... ... ... ..... :eek:Is that a spec of dirt on the dash and finger prints on the face plate of the stereo. You need to clean that thing its looking funky. :D

Thats unlike you Dave. :-laf

Oh Man! I am soooooooooo embarassed. BillVo knows me pretty well. As for the rest of you all, check out the lighter in the second picture. Do you think I have a little OCD going on here... ... ..... BTW, the fingerprints are not mine. I'll get to the bottom of this layo-layo... . :-laf

Thanks for the laugh Jay. I need it today. That darn lighter is one of those things that bothers me if it is not horizontal. Because we all know that smoke rises and if that knob is pointing in the correct direction where will that smoke go that is on the lighter???? Yea. I thought so... ... .

Looks great. Did the adapter plate come w/the system or did you have to buy it seperately? If so, where did you get it from?

Everything came with it. It was part of the installation package if you will. Just in case it got lost since the original post, I paid for the install at one of our local stereo shops. I hate trusting my vehicle to someone who has little vested interest in what I want but my daughter paid for it so I had to play nice.

No, thats a factory nav faceplate with the woodgrain. I wanted to stay with the factory look as much as I could.
