Failed Emissions:Smarty SW#0

Sps62 & Ht4c ???

I had to have an emission test for the first time in Spokane County. My truck was exempt for the first five years, today was it's birthday(5yrs).

I was hoping they would just plug their equipment in and check for codes, like they do for most cars, no such luck. In anticipation of a more thorough test, I set my TST to 0/0, and my Smarty to "0", half power, when you have to make sure NO SMOKE is produced!

You are allowed 40% Opacity, Dodge blew a 53%:-laf, after about 10 tries at their "Snap Test".

Now let me be very clear on this, I am not blaming Smarty in any way.

I believe the combination of my injectors (75hp extrude honed F1's), the slow spooling II Silver62 (no fuel), two stroke oil, and my EZ on 3, I know, I should have set the EZ to 0, I was thinking pressure only, but because of it's boost fooling, it probably gives it more fuel, when thats the last thing I needed right then.

The bottom line is, it FAILED, cannot get my license renewed until it passes. Any ideas? Maybe Bob has a "super weak" program he can email me, Bob? I was really counting on the sw#0, but it was smoking on take off, on my way there, I also noticed my "stock" setting smokes fairly heavy also.

I just performed a "boost leak test" this morning, no leaks @ 50psi:), I did blow the "apparatus", (that I copied from page 30, issue 58TDR), off my turbo and dented my oil filter, that's another story (you have to make some minor mods on that "apparatus", to make it work on a 3rd gen).

Any thoughts would be appreciated, Jess

This is what caught my attention.

Failed Emissions:Smarty SW#0

When you put "Failed" and "Smarty" so close together in a sentence,

It does make for better ratings.

But I can understand since

is a really long title.

The first thing I'd do is change the subject of the post.

Maybe I'm just not looking at this in the right way,

but what's Smarty got to do with you bogartin' the test?

You are absolutely right about the title of the post, I included "Smarty" for two reasons, #1 it gets attention, #2 the "sw#0" is touted as ZERO SMOKE,

I put it to the test.

On a stock truck it most likely works as advertised, all you folks out there with "mods", be warned. I am just alerting the people that are subject to emissions testing, that other factors can/will change the results. If like me, you are relying on the "valet"(sp) setting, Don't!

I am not sure what bogartin' implies? Did I cheat? Did I purposely fail? NO!

I am a 100%, completely satisfied consumer of "SMARTY". Bob, especially Bob, and Marco have went far beyond anyone else out there. And I have to believe, they value constructive criticism(sp).

As the powers that be, get more power, this sw#0, is going to be more and more in demand! Do you hear me Bob?. Right now, it is just california/washington(libs) mandating emissions testing in the west (more freedoms too lose to follow), your next!

So, when do you go back for testing and what do you plan to do to pass??

JC

JJ, when I lived in Puyallup we also had to smog check with the snap test, but the driver was allowed to do the "snap". This was several years ago so things may be different now. Did the station operator do your test or did you????

On my 95 CTD, it was maxed out and would smoke like the dickens (if you wanted it too) I always passed the test by doing it just hard enough to please the emissions police!! never had any problems. :)

But to truly test what they intended, is the 75hp injectors that are being fed added fuel with the EZ on 3 along with the slow spooling charger not supplying the needed air to burn that fuel a fair test?

I would turn that EZ off, put a fresh air filter in, empty the fuel filter canister and dump in a can of Seafoam, maybe she will squeeze by.

I passed emisiontest without issues. 0,1 out of 3,0 permitted. I´m running DDP stage 5 (200hp)

I know what you say about the II Silver 62 slowspool, had one before, but now has BD Twins that is way more responsive.

You dont need no boostfooling from edge, the needed boostfolling for Smartys halfpower should be in the there(Smarty)...

Turn of the edge and you should pass the test. Fresh airfilter and som aditive can not hurt off course!

Take the EZ off and put the smarty on fuel saver. Stop putting two stroke oil in your fuel.

OK, I passed!

I ran all the fuel out of my truck, filled up with B20, turned the EZ off, TST off. I loaded up the revo software last night, timing 1, rail pressure 1, tm 1, and loaded sw #0. It was still smoking a little, so I placed a piece of wood under the carpet beneath the go peddle, it would rev to about 2800 rpm.

As I stated earlier, you are allowed 40% opacity, this time the truck blew a 39%, whew! That was close.

After I left the emissions I loaded sw #9 , timing 2, rail pressure 2, tm 4, Revo is definitely not as strong as 411 (the bio fuel probably does not help).

Can someone tell me if I reload 411, will I lose the revo features?

Thanks for all the suggestions, they were much appreciated. Jess

California does not have smog check yet. 2010 is when diesel vehicles wil be smoged (California), but under 8500lbs vehicle weight. So most 1/2 ton - 1 ton trucks will be exempt.

yes 4. 11 is prior to the revolution upgrade.

That's OK, just loaded the TNT for the S-04, driving manners are very similar to the 411, but there is a heck of alot more getgo, and I do not need the TST/EZ to achieve the results. Nice Job!

Sorry, guess I have been missinformed:eek:.
