I was reading another trend about overheating and hearing the roar of the fan clutch, I was wondering if the second gen, mine a 96, had the same type of fan clutch that suppose to kick on just over 200 degrees. I've never heard it in my truck but I have in others.

Mine never did either.

I bought a Hayden fan clutch. Now cruising in town with the a/c. Temps in the 90's it will roar for a few secounds. Once you get on the hiway Fan just coasts along.

Looking into the electric fan option next.

I run fanless in the winter. I've have run fanless in the spring with the temps in the 80's. Only time in the summer we really need a fan is for the a/c.

Are trucks are equiped we a 130 amp alternator. So a fan that draws 20 amps is nothing. Its finding a fan that fits and moves enough air is another. So far I've found a couple 2300 cfm fans. But the price is as high.
